Yan Xiaonan is set to challenge Zhang Weili for the UFC strawweight title at UFC 300, marking the first time two Chinese fighters will fight for a UFC title. This highly anticipated showdown adds significant excitement to the card, scheduled for April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Weili became the first Chinese fighter to capture a UFC title when she finished Jéssica Andrade in one round in 2019. Her only two losses in the UFC came from former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas.

Dana White Announces Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan For UFC 300

The UFC CEO Hyped Up The Historic Clash

In the clip, White boasted about Weili’s stunning finish ratio consisting of 19 knockouts or submissions in 24 wins.

In her latest performance, Yan secured a knockout victory over former champion Jessica Andrade in their rematch at UFC 288, extending her current winning streak to two fights. This positive turn comes after Yan rebounded from a two-fight skid, which included losses to ex-champ Carla Esparza and Marina Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Zhang Weili is poised for the second title defense of her current reign as the UFC strawweight champion. Her most recent defense saw her outpointing Amanda Lemos at UFC 292. Zhang outlanded Lemos 288 to 21 in total strikes, which was the largest differential in UFC women's history.

While UFC 300 is still without a headliner, Dana White has promised "at least" two more announcements for the main fight card on Thursday.

UFC 300 Confirmed Fights

No Main Event Announcement Yet

Dana White previously announced on social media that Jiri Prochazka, the former light heavyweight champion, is set to square off against Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas. Additionally, former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will be making a move up to featherweight for a bout against Calvin Kattar.

Another compelling matchup will feature top prospect Bo Nickal facing Cody Brundage. White clarified that none of these three fights will serve as the main or co-main event for the pay-per-view card. The status of the strawweight title fight as a co-main event remains uncertain. Notably, Aljamain Sterling will be making his featherweight debut in the matchup against Calvin Kattar.

Among the notable matchups already confirmed is a pivotal lightweight bout featuring former champion Charles Oliveira against Arman Tsarukyan in a title eliminator, adding further anticipation to the upcoming blockbuster card.
