The "Wednesday Night Wars" have been a one-sided affair so far, with AEW Dynamite defeating WWE NXT in the ratings through each of the first four weeks.

That said, Dynamite took quite the hit last week - falling before one million viewers for the first time in its young history. AEW saw 963,000 viewers last week, compared to NXT bringing in just 698,000.

Surely, Triple H, Vince McMahon and WWE officials are back to the drawing board as they try to catch up with AEW in the Wednesday Night Wars. As we head into the fifth week of Dynamite vs. NXT, WWE has announced a plan that could provide the boost they needed.

On Tuesday, WWE.com announced that they'll be airing a one-hour special of last week's NXT show, prior to the regular two-hour episode. The Oct. 23 episode of NXT featured Finn Balor's surprise heel turn after he attacked Johnny Gargano.

It's a smart move by WWE, because it's obvious that NXT has a long way to go in catching up to Dynamite if they just run the regular program.

Those who missed last week's episode of NXT can now catch up quickly, and it could provide the help WWE needs in trying to catch AEW here in the Wednesday Night Wars. And if the ploy works this week, you can bet that WWE will be adding more of these one-hour specials down the road.

NXT previously tried to to outdoDynamite by having "limited commercial interruptions," but it wasn't enough to win the ratings battle. Perhaps the one-hour special will be the solution to helping NXT gain some much-needed ground.

World Series Could Impact AEW & NXT This Week

Game 7 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals will take place on Wednesday if the Nats win Game 6. That would certainly lead to a giant decline in ratings for both NXT and AEW this week. We'll just have to see how everything plays out, but at any rate, NXT's one-hour special replay gives them the prime chance at finally toppling Dynamite.
