WWE Upset Over Fans Using ThunderDome To Display Negative Imagery

The ThunderDome experiment hasn't gone quite as well as WWE expected as some fans have been using the platform to display negative imagery during shows.
Since the introduction of the new system - one which allows fans to form a virtual crowd - the promotion has had to ban users who have left teddy bears, Pokémon figures and various other cartoon or video game characters in their place. Rather disturbingly, fans have also put KKK references up, as well as a recording of an execution and an image of Chris Benoit.

According to Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue, the poor practices have resulted in anger backstage.
"These particular uses by the fans has apparently led to fury backstage with multiple sources stating that the production team and public relations teams have been under immense pressure to ensure that every single screen is constantly being monitored. Several days ago, the instruction was to make sure every screen has something on it. That instruction has apparently changed now that it's clear what is being placed on screen."
Colohue adds that "vocal, energetic fans with high-resolution images are heavily favored for ThunderDome" and any users who do not meet said requirements will be cycled out as soon as possible. The process is said to be "frustrating" as the turnout was lower than expected and it will probably be more difficult to find replacements for anyone being taken off.
The company is preparing a shortlist of fans who fall under the set criteria and are able to be on every show moving forward. Production staff have been instructing users as to how to react to specific wrestlers as they have had to add audio to cover up general chatter. The team has also been experiencing audio problems as a result.
Generally a Success
WWE considers the ThunderDome a success, generally, but there's reported tension backstage because of the pressure being put on production staff. The format is expected to remain the same for now but NXT and developmental talent are understood to be on standby just in case they're needed to fill screens.
Signups are also expected to increase over the coming weeks.
