After a phenomenal Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania 39 with Sheamus and the defending champion Gunther, Drew McIntyre hasn't been seen in WWE. There have been reports not just of a nagging injury but a very unhappy former WWE Champion. McIntyre has gone so far as to black out his Twitter account and there have been multiple reports of him eyeing leaving WWE after his contract runs out in a few months due to his unhappiness with his current contract and his place on the card.

Even though McIntyre has been absent from WWE, he was sent to Raw as part of the draft. With the rosters shifting, Raw is in desperate need of a new monster heel. What better person to fill this spot than a man who is in desperate need of something new, Drew McIntyre. If done right, it could stop him from leaving WWE.

Drew McIntyre Has Gotten Stale As A Babyface

In 2020, it was a feel good moment to finally see Drew McIntyre get the respect he deserved when he won the Royal Rumble, which gave him a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 36. What should have then been the biggest moment of his career was hindered by the arrival of the pandemic, which left McIntyre becoming the WWE Champion at WrestleMania in front of zero fans.

McIntyre was superb as the face of WWE during a troubling time, but as fans came back, McIntyre was no longer pushed as the biggest name in WWE. That went to a returning Roman Reigns. McIntyre found himself pushed down the card to a mid-level act cracking jokes and waving a sword. With Reigns dominating the world title scene, there was no way for Drew to go back up. Fans still loved him the same, but he didn't feel like a top three star in WWE anymore. McIntyre has taken his babyface act as far as it can go. That's not a slight on him. It's just time for his character to evolve. A heel act is what both he and WWE needs.

Drew McIntyre Is Reportedly Very Unhappy With His Current WWE Status

If all the reports are to be believed, then Drew McIntyre is a very frustrated WWE talent. There could possibly be nothing to little things like him blacking out his Twitter account and sharing waving emojis that some have taken to mean that McIntyre is waving goodbye to WWE. He's not the first wrestler to black out his Twitter account, only to have it not mean anything. Drew McIntyre has expressed frustrations in interviews though at never getting a shot to be WWE Champion with fans in attendance, along with Reigns' dominance meaning less spots for other wrestlers. He has hoped for Reigns' belts to go back to being split championships, and while that didn't happen exactly, the new World Heavyweight Championship, which will be defended on Raw where Drew has now been drafted to, gives him the perfect opportunity he wants.

Hopefully WWE knows how important he is to them. There are few wrestlers in the world who not only pass the airport test like Drew McIntyre, but have his charisma and in ring skill. He has always shown how much of a professional he is at representing the company, and best of all, after his release from WWE years ago, McIntyre proved how much drive he had by building his body and resurrecting his career to great heights in IMPACT Wrestling, leading to Drew coming back to WWE as a changed man. To let him get away would be a huge failure on WWE's part.

Drew McIntyre Is The Top Heel WWE Raw Badly Needs

The best way to repay Drew McIntyre for all he's done is for WWE to push him again like the megastar he is. That can't be done with Drew as a face though. Those Raw spots are already taken by Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Drew needs to be allowed to change things up and become a heel. He's done it before, working as a great heel in IMPACT and in his early return to WWE's main roster days. In that WWE comeback he was not the top level monster heel, but he has proven that he can be.

Drew McIntyre is not part of the twelve-man tournament for the new World Heavyweight Championship. Is that because Drew's hurt, or even because he's refusing to compete? It's hard to imagine WWE ignoring such a great talent when he's already unhappy. Fingers crossed that it was done with a storyline purpose. What better way to turn McIntyre heel then to have him feel disrespected, only to return and brutally attack the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Raw needs a big bad villain. Drew McIntyre can do that easily. WWE has to make him a huge part of their plans going forward, or they're going to lose him. There have already been many wondering if he would jump ship to AEW. Whether Tony Khan would use him right is another question, but it's a risk WWE can't take. He should be the one of the faces of WWE right now. If not, there's a chance that he'll be the man somewhere else.
