WWE Money In The Bank Set Several Records This Year [Report]

This year's WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view set several company records, according to a report.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that this year's show was the most-watched Money in the Bank event in history (the pay-per-view was introduced in 2010). On top of that, Money in the Bank 2022 marked "The second highest gate in" the show's history. Finally, merchandise sales increased by a whopping 95 percent — also the highest for any Money in the Bank event — Sapp reported.
Money in the Bank 2022 was previously scheduled to take place inside Allegiant Stadium (home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders) in Paradise, Nevada. The stadium, which has a giant capacity of 65,000, hosted SummerSlam 2021 last year. But in May, WWE announced that they were relocating the event to the smaller and nearby MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
So clearly, the decision to move to a smaller venue worked out from a business standpoint. WWE should also be encouraged by these reported Money in the Bank records when you consider how much star power was absent from the card. This included Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes (recovering from surgery on a torn pectoral) and Randy Orton (sidelined with a back injury).

Money in the Bank 2022 featured two title changes. Bobby Lashley defeated Theory (the eventual men's Money in the Bank ladder match winner) to become the new United States Championship. Women's Money in the Bank winner Liv Morgan cashed in her briefcase and defeated Ronda Rousey to claim the SmackDown Women's Championship.
Money In The Bank 2022 Was An Excellent Show
It was surprising to see WWE exclude Reigns from the show at first, but things obviously worked out just fine. Money in the Bank 2022 was filled with great matches (specifically The Street Profits vs. The Usos) and surprising twists (Morgan's cash-in and Theory winning the briefcase). Money in the Bank greatly exceeded expectations, and the show has tremendously set the stage for the highly-anticipated SummerSlam 2022 event.
