WWE 2K24 is officially on the way, launching on last-gen and current-gen platforms on March 8, 2024, or three days before that if you pre-order the deluxe or 40 Years of WrestleMania editions. Continuing to learn from the mistakes made via WWE 2K20, 2K has continued to build on the prior year's release in significant ways despite only having 12 months to do so. In WWE 2K24, it will do that through new match types and improvements for all of the series' core game modes.
Four New Match Types
2K teased the new match types coming to WWE 2K24 in the days building to its cover star reveal. There will be four new match types in the next game: casket, ambulance, gauntlet, and guest referee. That last one, in particular, will likely excite fans who have been playing wrestling games for a while. The chance to don a ref shirt as your favorite Superstar and call the shots was a part of WWE games for years until it was unceremoniously dropped.
WWE 2K24's Roster Will Include More Than 200 Superstars, 30+ Names Confirmed So Far
The first details about WWE 2K24 have been revealed, including more than 30 of the 200 Superstars that will be on its roster.Improvements to existing match types have also been made. As many as four players can now take part in backstage brawls, and interact with a lot more elements, and eight of you can now be in the ring during online Royal Rumble matches. As noted above, all of WWE 2K's core game modes will be improved upon in 2K24 too. MyGM, which was revived for WWE 2K22, will remain a part of the game and get a lot of new features in 2K24.
Updates To MyGM, MyRise, And MyFaction
On top of more GMs and match types to choose from, this year MyGM will also include the ability to trade Superstars with other GMs, adds more titles into the mix, and will let you use talent scouts. MyFaction, WWE 2K's virtual card game which tasks players with building their very own four-person factions, also returns. Adding to the experience is a new direct purchase card market, and a revamped Faction Wars 2.0. There will also be new cards and goals added to the game throughout the year.
Last but not least is MyRise, effectively WWE 2K's story mode where players can take their created Superstars from the bottom of the WWE pile to WrestleMania's main event and beyond. Roman Reigns is one of three Superstars to have provided voiceovers for MyRise this year, perhaps suggesting it will be a bigger deal than ever before. In WWE 2K24, the two new storylines players will have to choose from is Undisputed for male Superstars, and Unleashed for female stars.
