Selfish Attitude

Olivia felt that moving out of Cairo would be the best decision for her and Ethan, so they could focus on their marriage without anything else getting in the way. When Olivia expressed her desire to move to Florida, Ethan pushed back, voicing that he didn't want to leave and be separated from his siblings. For the longest time, the couple was at an impasse, but instead of trying to compromise, Olivia didn't give Ethan much of a choice. Reddit user golfffer said, "I really can't stand Olivia. She's extremely selfish, terribly manipulative and could do with a reality check. I think the sooner the marriage ends, the better off Ethan will be. Olivia is, and will always be, all about #1-herself."

Controlling Behavior

Olivia has not only wanted to keep herself distanced from her in-laws, but Ethan as well. Instead of encouraging Ethan to forgive his parents and try to work on his relationship with them, she has done the opposite. In a clip for the new season, Ethan explains to Olivia that he will need to go back to Cairo to finish fixing his cars. Olivia instantly becomes emotional, and fears that his return will put him back under Kim's influence. She tries to offer other solutions that would help him to avoid going back and interacting with his family. Reddit user, dollylovesdrawing wrote, "Everyone has a right to visit their family...the fact that Olivia is threatened by Ethan spending time with his family is kind of absurd. I'm starting to get controlling vibes from her and it's not cute."

Manipulative Actions

When Moriah Plath got serious about making music, she went to Olivia for advice about organizing a concert. Olivia offered to help Moriah, and even be part of her band, but there was just one catch. In order for Olivia to feel comfortable being onstage, she told Moriah that she couldn't do it if Kim and Barry were there. This put Moriah in an awkward situation, as she had to tell her parents that they could not come. In the same thread, Reddit user pchandler45 commented, "She's SO CONTROLLING and manipulative when it comes to both Ethan and Moriah."

Olivia may have good intentions for those around her, but that is getting lost in translation due to the way that she chooses to approach things. Her marriage has been on shaky ground for quite some time, and there are signs that she and Ethan may be headed for divorce. The new season of Welcome to Plathville just started, and fans hope that Olivia will recognize that she needs to take some accountability and work on turning things around.
