Avid followers of Sister Wives point out that Mariah Brown hasn't always had the best attitude and even sometimes came across as a brat.
Mariah Brown is Meri and Kody's only child, but the Sister Wives star wasn't always as eager to help out the family as she is now. Like every other Brown child, Mariah has made it perfectly clear she does not want to live a polygamist lifestyle. Mariah has added a lot to the show and often challenged her family's conservative ways as an adult. In 2017, Mariah came out as gay on a Sister Wives episode, which left her mother and father shocked. The Browns eventually embraced Mariah, who is now engaged to her partner, Audrey Kriss.
Not all conversations were easy for Mariah growing up, as old clips have resurfaced of the teenager speaking out in anger towards her family. While every young person has a moody day or two, most don't have to go through puberty while TLC cameras follow them. With that being said, there were a few moments when Mariah was not shown in the best light.
Sister Wives viewers have noted that Mariah didn't always have the nicest of attitudes when she was younger. On multiple occasions, the only daughter of Meri would storm off when she didn't get her away, a trait she possibly learned from her mother. During season 2, Mariah was left enraged that the family home wasn't ready for Christmas even though the Browns were trying to flee Las Vegas. There are multiple examples of Mariah behaving badly. Another incident, shared in a video on TLC's YouTube page, found Mariah crying and taking off her mic when Meri and Kody couldn't promise her a sibling of her own.
At the age of 17, Mariah was still throwing tantrums. At one point, the teenager refused to go anywhere else but Westminster College. Mariah acted a lot like Meri, and the comparison was made often. At the beginning of the series, Mariah spoke about wanting to practice polygamy and even used it as a reason for needing to go to an expensive college in Utah. To many, it was obvious that Mariah was trying to justify why her needs needed to be met. Meri has also exhibited that behavior, especially when it came to the Las Vegas houses, as she argued she deserved a large space too and shouldn't be penalized for only having one child.
Thankfully, as Mariah has matured, so has her attitude. In fact, she is now arguably one of the fan-favorite Brown siblings. Still, some Sister Wives viewers can't get past the behavior Mariah exhibited as a teenager.
