Highlights
- The Bloodline saga lost steam when Jimmy Uso attacked Jey Uso, causing a downfall of the hot storyline.
- Amidst other bigger matches at WrestleMania 40, Jimmy vs. Jey might struggle to stand out and gain fan interest.
- With little experience in singles competition and similar move sets, Jimmy vs. Jey could end up being underwhelming.
For the first time ever, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso are on a collision course to battle in a singles match in WWE, which is set to take place at WrestleMania 40. Whilst at one time a feud between the twins seemed impossible, the development of their respective characters and personalities has allowed this to naturally play out, and it will culminate at the biggest show of the year. Despite a long-term build and how over the two men have been throughout The Bloodline saga, this match has the potential to be one of the disappointing matches in the history of WrestleMania.
The Bloodline Storyline Lost Momentum When Jimmy Uso Turned Heel
Jimmy Uso Attacking Jey Uso Was Criticized
- The Bloodline storyline was the hottest in WWE
- It got too overbooked and convoluted when Jimmy Uso attacked his brother
- The Bloodline saga has never recovered
From 2020 to 2023, The Bloodline storyline amidst Roman Reigns' run as Universal Champion was nothing short of fantastic. The storyline beats such as Jey Uso being forced into joining, Sami Zayn’s inclusion and rejection, and everything else in between led to some of the best weekly content WWE has seen for many years, and it was something that fans loved. When The Usos broke free of the faction, they became a hugely hot act, and fans were looking forward to Jey Uso challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Even though fans saw it coming, it was no less of a big disappointment when Jimmy Uso turned heel on his brother and cost him the match.
WrestleMania 19: Why This PPV Is Still WWE's Best
From the final encounter of The Rock and Steve Austin, to a classic main event with Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle, nothing beats WrestleMania 19.Fans couldn’t see the logic in this decision, and Jimmy’s explanation made absolutely no sense in the aftermath, especially since he simply joined back up with The Bloodline anyway. This convoluted development was proof that this whole thing had gone on for far too long, and that WWE were just making up the narrative as they went along rather than planning it out. This has lingered over The Bloodline ever since. Even though Jey Uso has remained popular, Jimmy couldn’t feel more like an afterthought due to the way this story developed. Unfortunately, this feud will always have that backdrop to it.
Jey Uso Vs Jimmy Uso Could Get Lost In Bigger WrestleMania Matches
The Bloodline Has A Much More Important Part To Play At WrestleMania 40
- The focus is on Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Cody Rhodes
- WrestleMania 40 has a lot of title matches
- The crowd will be hotter for other bouts at WrestleMania 40
When looking ahead to WrestleMania, the rivalry could still be built up well, but unfortunately, there are far bigger things going on at the show, so the narrative behind Jimmy and Jey could become a massive afterthought. The Bloodline is involved in more important stories, such as with The Rock and Cody Rhodes, so Jey vs. Jimmy feels like a subplot, which isn’t a good thing.
Why Roman Reigns & The Rock Should Beat Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins At WrestleMania 40
Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins are WWE's biggest babyfaces, but they need to go down to the Bloodline at WrestleMania.Additionally, with both Women’s World Championship matches, the midcard titles which are filled with big stars, and more, Jimmy vs. Jey is looking to be one of the least important matches on the whole card. At the show itself, this could lead to fans showing disinterest and not being invested in the match, affecting its quality and leading to it being disappointing in a big way.
Jimmy Uso Vs. Jey Uso Has No Guarantees To Be A Good Match
There Have Been Other Brother Vs. Brother Matches At Past WrestleManias
Tale Of The Tape | Jey Uso | Jimmy Uso |
|---|---|---|
Age | 38 | 38 |
Height | 6'2" | 6'3" |
Weight | 228 lbs | 251 lbs |
PPV Singles Matches | 3 | 0 |
There is a lot of expectation when it comes to Jimmy vs. Jey, especially with how long the build to this match has played out for. Additionally, it will undoubtedly be compared to other brother vs. brother matches across WWE history such as Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart and Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy. It will have a tough job being as good as either of those WrestleMania matches. A big part of this is due to the fact that neither are especially successful singles competitors. Jey has more experience, but this will mark Jimmy’s first ever PPV singles match in WWE, which is crazy to think about.
10 Post WrestleMania 40 Debuts & Returns We Want To See
Wrestling fans would love to see these names debuting or returning to WWE after WrestleMania 40 is in the history books. Not just that, but both wrestlers have essentially an identical move set, so this match could just become a mess. It will be like a superstar wrestling himself, and that is something which has never worked in wrestling (for example, Undertaker vs. Undertaker, Kane vs. Kane, and Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara). Whilst this won’t be exactly like that, their similar move sets and looks will make it somewhat close. Fans need to be prepared for a match that will not set the world on fire and may not have much interest, otherwise it may go down as one of the most underwhelming matches in the history of the event.
