Why Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar Only Ran For 2 Minutes
Robert King

You probably rolled your eyes right before opening this up, and we can hardly blame you.
The hyped-up Crown Jewel match between WWE newcomer Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar perhaps went just the way many understandably pessimistic fans imagined it would.
The bout only lasted two minutes and three seconds, still considerably longer than Brock's title match against former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, but it must have been quite disappointing especially when you take the history between Cain and The Beast Incarnate into consideration.
Cain was forced to submit after Brock put him in a Kimura hold, quickly bringing an end to his in-ring debut.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had always planned for the fight to be a quick affair because Velasquez is currently nursing an injured knee. It is believed that the former UFC fighter will require surgery on the joint but there's been no indication as it pertains to when he's expected to go under the knife and how long it will take him to recover.
According to the outlet, the promotion was aware of the condition and the possibility of a corrective operation before Velasquez signed his contract. The 37-year-old has signed a three-year deal with WWE, although it's unclear whether the company will use him as a regular performer or have him appear sporadically.
Velasquez is still scheduled to team up with Rey Mysterio in a tag match against Andrade and Drew McIntyre despite the injury. The fight will take place at a Live Event in Mexico City on November 30.
We're Getting Used To Those
Velasquez not being put through a lengthy match because of a knee problem is certainly understandable but it would have done WWE very little good if they'd revealed that beforehand.
It's still disappointing, though. There are probably more than a handful of viewers who tuned in just so they could see the pair of larger-than-life athletes go at it, and a two-minute fight was probably not what they were expecting.
