Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Finale - "The Last Generation"Special guest star Alice Krige provided the voice, but a new actress played the Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale, "The Last Generation." The Borg Queen was revealed as the ultimate villain in Star Trek: Picard season 3. The Borg joined forces with the Changelings to assimilate Starfleet, while the Queen fulfilled Jack Crusher's (Ed Speleers) destiny to become Vox of Borg. But Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D rescued Jack and dealt the Borg their greatest defeat.

The Borg Queen was introduced in Star Trek: First Contact, where she was played by Alice Krige. As the leader of the Borg Collective, the Queen was retroactively behind the assimilation of Captain Picard into Locutus of Borg. In spite of multiple defeats, the Queen returned several times and was played by different actresses, including Susanna Thompson in Star Trek: Voyager and Annie Wersching in Star Trek: Picard season 2. However, as the original Borg Queen, Krige is the best-known and most popular actress in the role. Thankfully, Krige returned to lend her voice to Star Trek: Picard season 3 while another actress physically embodied the Borg's ruler.

Who Played The Borg Queen In Star Trek: Picard Season 3's Finale

Borg Queen Picard Season 3 Finale

The Borg Queen is played by Australian actress Jane Edwina Seymour in Star Trek: Picard season 3's final two episodes. Seymour is now the fifth actress to portray the Borg Queen, although there was also The Face (voiced by Garth Kemp), the visage Captain Vadic (Amanda Plummer) communicated with in Picard season 3, who was tacitly revealed to be the Borg Queen all along. Given the fate of the Queen in Picard season 3's finale, Seymour may also prove to be the final actress to physically embody the Borg's cybernetic ruler.

The Borg Queen's grotesque, skeletal appearance means audiences may not immediately notice that Krige wasn't the live-action Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale. The Queen and the Borg Collective were "poisoned" by Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) in Star Trek: Voyager's finale, and suffered physical decimation for the next two decades as the Queen ravaged her own drones to preserve herself. Even then, the Queen in Picard season 3's finale was rotting, misshapen, and largely immobile. The Borg Queen proved helpless to stop Admiral Picard and the Enterprise-D from destroying her once and for all.

Will The Borg Queen Return In Star Trek?

Alison Pill, Alice Krige, Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen

In all likelihood, Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale was the final conflict between Jean-Luc Picard and his nemesis, the Borg Queen. The Borg Collective that threatened the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager was defeated, at last, by Starfleet. This means the original Borg Queen is likely gone, for good. However, there is another Borg Queen from an alternate timeline in the Federation. Introduced in Star Trek: Picard season 2, the hybrid of Dr. Agnes Jurati (Allison Pill) and the Borg Queen (Annie Wersching) is somewhere in space, last seen guarding a gateway against an unknown enemy.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 probably marks the end of the Borg as a mortal threat to the Federation in the 25th century and beyond. But Star Trek is a franchise that exists in multiple eras, so the Borg and their Queen can still pop up in shows and movies set before the 25th century. This has already happened, as the Borg Queen (voiced by Alice Krige) appeared in a holodeck simulation in Star Trek: Lower Decks. It's possible the Borg Queen and her Collective will be back whenever a Star Trek story needs the cyborg villains, but the doomed Borg Queen played by Jane Edwina Seymour likely breathed her last breath in Star Trek: Picard season 3.
