The Cinemaholic reports the McGees are based in Utah, which is where the majority of season 1 was filmed (aside from episode 4, which involved a visit to their previous home city of Los Angeles). The couple's official site notes that they moved to Salt Lake City back in 2015, after founding Studio McGee, whose current office is located in Lehi, UT (via PopSugar). Lehi is also where the McGees own dream home is situated; the custom-built property was completed in 2020. Additionally, their McGee & Co. warehouse, which is also featured on Dream Home Makeover, is located in nearby Draper, UT.
As fans of the show know, the participants are all Utah residents with properties located in Lehi, as well as, Kaysville, Farmington, Layton, and North Salt Lake City. In an interview with local paper The Salt Lake Tribune, the McGees confessed to missing southern California. However, they also acknowledged they've adjusted to their new digs. "Honestly, we've fallen in love with Utah," they revealed. In particular, they love the landscape, namedropping "the mountains" as one of their favorite parts of the state.
Season 2 of Dream Home Makeover has already been completed, but we'll need to wait and see whether it's in Utah again, or if branches out.
