The third edition of Crown Jewel was held at Riyadh, where WWE returned to host the pay-per-view after two years, having missed it last year. Like every show in the Middle East, the stakes were high, and there were several blockbuster matches on the card, including some title matches.

Besides the World Title matches, two women's matches took place in Saudi Arabia, which was certainly a big achievement. None of the titles changed hands, while the new King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring winners were crowned at Crown Jewel. The show was good for the most part, but it could have been better on several occasions.

9 Right: The Opening Match

Edge vs Seth Rollins in Hell in a Cell Cropped

The climax of the feud between Edge and Seth Rollins was at Crown Jewel, where they crossed paths in a Hell in a Cell match. The match opened the show, and it was certainly an incredible way to start the show given how good the match was.

Taking advantage of the stipulation, they used various weapons during the match. There were many close moments. In the end, Rollins got a dose his own medicine after getting Stomped on the steel chair to lose the match, with Edge giving one of the best performances of his career.

8 Wrong: The Queen's Crown Final Match

Dourdrop wrestling Zelina Vega Cropped

The inaugural edition of the Queen's Crown tournament certainly generated interest, but every single match of the tournament was substandard. With Doudrop and Zelina Vega colliding at Crown Jewel, the fans were finally expecting to see a pay-per-view-worthy match in the final.

However, the match was disappointing like the rest of the matches of the tournament. It lasted less than 6 minutes, making it look like a regular match on Raw or SmackDown, instead of the final match of the Queen's Crown tournament. Zelina Vega pinned Doudrop to become the first-ever holder of the Queen's Crown.

7 Right: Goldberg's Performance

Bobby Lashley wrestling Goldberg Cropped

Following the loss at SummerSlam, Goldberg was seeking revenge. With he way Goldberg was threatening to kill Bobby Lashley while building up the match, most fans were anticipating it to be a squash match at Crown Jewel.

But Goldberg's performance exceeded expectations at the event, making it one of his best matches in recent years. The legend tortured Lashley and delivered three devastating Spears and a Jackhammer. The match was also longer than typical Goldberg matches and ended with a pretty cool spot too.

6 Wrong: Finn Balor Lost

King Of The Ring Xavier Woods

Finn Balor and Xavier Woods crossed paths in the final of the King of Ring tournament at Crown Jewel. The match was predictably great, and ended with The New Day member pinning the Prince to win the prestigious crown.

Well, Xavier Woods wasn't a wrong pick to be a winner, but given the momentum of Finn Balor at the moment, he deserved it more. Prior to the tournament, Balor was in the Universal Championship picture, and he was finally featured in the main event scene. A victory at Crown Jewel would have solidified his position on the main roster.

5 Right: Sasha Banks Was Pinned

Becky Lynch locks in the Disarmher on Banks and Belair Cropped

The SmackDown Women's Championship match featured Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair, and the champion, Becky Lynch. It was a great triple threat match, and Becky Lynch successfully retained the belt.

Bianca was particularly impressive in that match, showing off her incredible strength. Becky pinned Sasha Banks to retain the title, which was the right decision to protect the EST of WWE. Following her embarrassing loss in 26 seconds at SummerSlam, Belair couldn't have afforded to take the pin.

4 Wrong: No Mid-Card Title Match

Damian Priest Holds Up The United States Championship

While there were Tag Team Title matches, Women's Championship matches, and World Title matches, WWE once again neglected the mid-card titles. Neither the United States Championship nor the Intercontinental Championship was defended at a big event like Crown Jewel.

WWE not booking the US Championship or Intercontinental Championship matches in pay-per-views like this shows its lack of importance to the promotion.

3 Right: Mansoor Prevailed In His Home Country

Mansoor wrestling Mustafa Ali Cropped

The fans have constantly witnessed Superstars losing matches in their hometowns, which is known as the hometown curse. Mansoor, who performed in previous Saudi Arabia shows, also competed at Crown Jewel this year. The Arab native faced Ali in a singles match.

Mansoor continued the remarkable winning streak in his hometown by picking up a win over Ali, which was the right decision. Following the match, Ali assaulted Mansoor, but Olympic silver medalist Tareg Hamedi took out Ali.

2 Wrong: The Main Event Finish

Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar Crown Jewel Cropped

The main event match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns was certainly the most anticipated match of Crown Jewel. The two behemoths clashed for the Universal Championship once more. As expected, it was a hard-hitting bout, with both men connecting with their finishing moves for near falls.

But the finish of the match was poor, owing to another interference from The Usos to save Roman Reigns. The twins attacked Lesnar with double Superkicks, and Reigns hit Lesnar with the Universal Title to pin him. The involvement of The Usos in another Roman Reigns match was repetitive, and it was certainly a bad way to finish such an amazing bout.

1 Right: Big E Retained

Big E vs Drew McIntyre Cropped

Crown Jewel was a memorable night for two New Day members. Big E was set for a big challenge when he defended his gold against the former WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.

While Xavier Woods won the King of Ring tournament, Big E also defended the WWE Championship successfully, pinning the Scottish Warrior after a hard-fought battle. Big E should have a solid run with the title, and it was a right call for him to retain the gold.
