AEW has one of the best tag team rosters in the world and has boasted the best quality of tag team wrestling seen in quite some time over the last few years. Many tag team wrestlers are given their own characters and personality, which brings fans more into these storylines and matches.

When looking at AEW’s current selection of tag team stars on their expansive roster, it is interesting to go and look at their singles success both in and out of the company and to see what their best singles match has been throughout their career, whether than be in AEW or another promotion.
10 Nick Jackson: Vs Rey Fenix, AEW Dynamite, November 20, 2019
When it comes to quality inside the ring, Nick Jackson is often considered the superior of the two Young Bucks, and this match on an early episode of AEW Dynamite against Rey Fenix is a big example as to why.
This was a remarkable showcase of athleticism and technical ability. There were stiff blows, breathtaking high-flying spots, and strong psychology in terms of each man being out of their comfort zone due to being predominantly tag team wrestlers.
9 Anthony Bowens: Vs. Jon Moxley, AEW Dynamite, January 26, 2022
Anthony Bowens is still on the rise as a star in professional wrestling and hasn’t yet had too many opportunities to showcase his abilities as a singles performer.
His best example of a strong singles performance was in a match with Jon Moxley. Going in, many expected Moxley to make short work of the tag team competitor, but Bowens surprisingly got a lot of offense and looked strong coming out of it. Bowens will likely have better singles matches in the future due to being more over, but this is his best to date.
8 Cash Wheeler: Vs Dax Harwood, AEW Dynamite, April 27, 2022
Cash Wheeler is the more overlooked and underrated member of FTR, although it must be said that he hasn’t had as many opportunities to shine in singles matches.
His best match actually came against his very own tag team partner, Dax Harwood, in the Owen Hart Cup. These two closely bonded men showcased wonderful chemistry here in a great TV match.
7 Preston Vance: Vs Jon Moxley, AEW Dynamite, October 27, 2021
Preston Vance recently left one team to join another as he is now teaming up with Rush. So far in his career, he hasn’t had too many major singles matches, and his best may come as a surprise since it only lasted two minutes.

However, this match with Jon Moxley in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament was a violent and electric sprint that made both men look tough as nails. It felt like a real and authentic fight, even if Vance was beaten in just a couple of minutes.
6 Chuck Taylor: Vs. Zack Sabre Jr., PWG Pushin Forward Back, July 7, 2017
Even though Chuck Taylor has been in the Best Friends tag team for quite some time, his previous successes as a singles star should not be overlooked - particularly his time in PWG where he reigned as World Champion.
His best match in PWG was against Zack Sabre Jr., when Taylor played a valiant underdog who managed to overcome the conniving heel to win the PWG World Title, in what is up there with the all-time best moments in the history of the promotion.
5 Dante Martin: Vs Rey Fenix, AEW Dynamite, May 4, 2022
It is still remarkable how young Dante Martin is, considering how good he looks between the ropes. He has mostly been in the tag team scene, but during the injury absence of his brother, he was afforded some time in the singles spotlight.
His best match was against Rey Fenix, in which the pair did some unthinkable spots and moves. These two are a pair of ingenious wrestlers who manage to continue innovating high-flying wrestling, and they did so wonderfully in this match.
4 Penta: Vs Sami Callihan, IMPACT Slammiversary 16, July 22, 2018
Penta has a very successful singles career outside AEW and outside his tag team alongside Rey Fenix. Back in 2018, he was wrestling in IMPACT, and he had a stunning standout match against Sami Callihan.
Some may point to his work in the likes of AAA and Lucha Underground, but there was something extra special about this Hair vs. Mask match. It was a brutal display of violence, and it felt like a war. It may not be to everyone’s tastes, but to those who like this style, this is arguably his best singles match.
3 Dax Harwood: Vs. Will Ospreay, AEW Dynamite, June 15, 2022
In 2022, Dax Harwood proved himself to be one of the best wrestlers on the planet. Not only did his tag team matches steal every show they were on, but he had a selection of fantastic singles matches too against an array of opponents.
The most notable of the bunch was against Will Ospreay. This was full of fluid wrestling, stiff blows, great counters, and so much more. In under 13 minutes, Harwood and Ospreay wrestled a special match on TV.
2 Rey Fenix: Vs Kenny Omega, AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash, January 6, 2021
There are several great matches that Rey Fenix has had outside AEW, but from an in-ring standpoint, this match against Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship is his best ever.

Even though Fenix didn’t have much chance going in, the pair managed to make everyone forget about that with a match that contained flashy yet perfectly executed moves, brutal-looking blows, and a lot of intensity.
1 Evil Uno: Vs. Jon Moxley, AEW Dynamite, February 22, 2023
Evil Uno hasn’t wrestled too many singles matches in AEW, but he recently had perhaps his best-ever one to date.
In a match against Jon Moxley, Uno defended his friend Adam Page and brought a drive, intensity, and fire that fans hadn’t seen from him before. He managed to match Moxley’s brutality and looked valiant as he continued to fight whilst covered head to toe in his own blood.
