Kelly Clarkson is shrugging off criticism about her weight gain, telling Ellen DeGeneres Friday, “You’re just who you are. We are who we are. Whatever size.”

Clarkson was referencing recent criticism by British TV personality Katie Hopkins, who targeted the singer on Twitter, writing, “Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers?”

Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers? Happily I have wide-screen. #grahamnorton

“I love that people think that’s new,” Clarkson told Ellen. “Welcome to the last 13 years.”

“I was the biggest girl on [American Idol], too. And I wasn’t big, but people would call me big,” Clarkson added. “Because I was the biggest one on Idol, and I’ve kind of always gotten that. People are like, ‘I’m so sorry that lady in London was so mean to you.’ And I’m like, ‘Are you serious? Get in line.’”
