NXT underwent some huge changes in 2021, transforming from the black and gold brand to the NXT 2.0 version of the show we have today. WWE signaled its intent to further its effort to leave the old NXT in the past by releasing a number of backstage employees this week. The likes of William Regal and Samoa Joe, both of whom have played a huge part in the history of NXT both off and on-screen.

Walter Is Coming To NXT 2.0

WWE continues to build the foundaion for NXT 2.0, even putting the NXT Title on Bron Breakker at New Year's Evil. While many of the faces we now see each week on NXT are brand new, some of the Superstars sticking around are established names. Pete Dunne appears to have a place in NXT's future, and it seems Walter does also.

It was revealed on this week's edition of NXT UK that the Austrian will be leaving the British brand to become a full-time member of NXT 2.0. Walter will wrestle his final match in NXT UK next week against Nathan Frazier. A pretty surprising turn of events as Walter hasn't been afraid to admit in the past that he had no interest in moving to the US so he could work on an American WWE brand full-time.

What Does WWE Have For Walter?

Walter has probably made the move to the US already. Episodes of NXT UK are taped ahead of time, and he wrestled alongside the rest of Imperium at New Year's Evil this week. It will be very interesting to see what happens next and what WWE has planned for Walter. It's hard to imagine him doing anything less than challenging for the NXT Title right away, which could spell early trouble for Breakker.

That's unless WWE plans on sending Walter straight to the main roster. Walter competed at Survivor Series 2019 in a traditional elimination match but was eliminated very early on. His size alone would lead you to think Vince McMahon must be a big fan of him. There are some terrific matches awaiting him across all three of WWE's US brands. Wherever he spends most of his time, if handled right, Walter has the chance to compete in some classics.
