The view of your timeline feed contains the events related to you, your connections, and some major system events. You can open content such as reports and dashboards from any event.  You can also collaborate with other users by posting updates and comments, and responding to other users' comments.

You can access your timeline or another user's timeline.

You can customize your Remedy Smart Reporting user profile by applying various settings. You can keep your timeline public so that all users can view your activity, or you can make it private so that other users can access your timeline only upon request. For more information, see Changing your user profile, display, and privacy settings.

The following video (2:11) describes an overview of timelines in Remedy Smart Reporting.

Actions you can perform with timelines

You can perform the following actions with timelines.

ActionDescriptionSteps

Access your own timeline

You can access your timeline from anywhere within Remedy Smart Reporting.

After logging in to Remedy Smart Reporting—If you set the timeline page as the Entry Page in the display preferences from your profile settings, the timeline page is the default landing page.

From other areas in Remedy Smart Reporting (such as Dashboard or Browse), perform the following steps:

    1. Click to access the navigation panel.
    2. On the top of the navigation bar, click the small arrow next to your name, and then click Timeline.

Access another user's timeline

The view you have of someone else's timeline feed depends on the following factors:

  • The security permissions the other user has applied to the timeline
  • Your connection with the other user

If the timeline is public, you can view it directly. If the timeline is private, you must first connect with the other user, and the user must approve the connection request.

  • If the other user's timeline is public:
    1. On the top menu of your timeline, click .
    2. In the Connections panel, select the user whose timeline you want to view, and click the menu on the right corner.
    3. Click View Timeline.
  • If the other user's timeline is private:
    1. Create a connection with the user.
    2. In the Connections panel, select the user whose timeline you want to view, and click the menu on the right corner.
    3. Click View Timeline.

Open timeline content

While viewing events on a timeline feed, you can directly open associated content such as reports, dashboards, and storyboards. The content opens outside of the timeline.

Click the thumbnail for the timeline content you want to open.

Filter timeline content

Instead of scrolling through the entire timeline feed, you can filter the displayed events to easily find relevant events.

On the timeline, enter a keyword in the search box, and click the search icon.

Add a post to a timeline

You can post comments or updates on the following timelines:

  • Your timeline
  • Timelines of other users with whom you are connected
  • Timelines of other users with whom you are not connected, but only if they have defined their timeline as Public in their Notification & Privacy settings.

Timeline events that you and other users can see

The view you have of someone else's timeline feed depends on the following factors:

  • The security permissions the other user has applied to their timeline
  • Your connection with the other user

You can restrict another user's ability to view your timeline by selecting appropriate Notification & Privacy options when you customize your Remedy Smart Reporting user profile.

If the user whose timeline you want to view has set their timeline as private, you must request to connect with the user. The user must approve your connection request before you can view that user's timeline. You can see events that relate only to the user you are viewing, and not for any other users.

The following sections provide information about events that are displayed on a timeline feed, and what can be seen in each of the views:
