WWE had plans to use Triple H at WrestleMania 38 before the 14-time World Champion was forced to retire due to health issues. HHH announced his retirement from in-ring competition this week, citing a cardiac incident that occurred back in September as the main cause.
The WWE exec was a recent guest on Stephen A.’s World, laying bare his health issues in an interview with the ESPN analyst and confirming he will never wrestle again.

The Game would also reveal there were discussions with Vince McMahon about doing something at WrestleMania this year, prior to the event that prompted him to call it quits.
“I was already at a place in my career, as far as the in-ring goes, where I was comfortable being done and finished,” he said.
“If the right thing came along, I hadn’t really said much, but if the right thing came along and they wanted me to do it…I had a conversation with Vince McMahon about doing something at WrestleMania this year in Dallas.
“We had talked about and there were plans for. Obviously, when this happened, it shut all that down. As far as the schedule, WWE is an intense place, it’s 24/7 and you’re running, running, running. It put things in perspective for me.”
Triple H Was Hardly Active As An In-Ring Performer
Tripe H last fought in a Street Fight segment in 2020. His last official match came at a house show in Tokyo, Japan, in the form of a tag team bout, with his last televised match coming against Randy Orton at the Super ShowDown in 2019.
