Ric Flair was Triple H's childhood hero, so getting to introduce the wrestling icon to the crowd during the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony in 2008 must have been an honor. As it turns out, HHH had to tell his idol to get off the stage too.
The WWE exec recalled the moment during the latest episode of WWE 24, starting off by saying how great it was to have met Ric, become a friend, and then get to induct him. Unfortunately, that was packaged with what he describes as the "worst moment ever."

The Game explained that Vince McMahon was getting restless as The Nature Boy's speech had encroached the time limit and ordered him to have Flair cut things short. He was forced to do so through boos from the crowd.
"Now Ric's doing his speech, and at some point, I see somebody wave from the curtain, like wave me over, and I stick my head into gorilla position, and Vince is like, how much longer has he got? He's talking about the 70s; he's not even in the 80s yet. Vince is like, 'Well, we're going to get dropped dead off TV, you've got to go out there and cut him off.' 'You mean you want me to go on stage and tell Ric Flair to wrap up his induction speech?' And he's like, 'Yes, go right now, and I'm like, oh for the love of God, right (laughs)'. So I have to walk out there to the crowds booing, and I'm like, 'You;ve got to wrap it up', and he's like, he just keeps going."
Triple H's message did little to dissuade Flair, who continued with his speech, much to the panic of McMahon and the hosts. Someone came from backstage to instruct HHH to tell Flair again.
"Now there is a panic at gorrila, like people calling me over. 'Why didn't you tell him, well, I did tell him.' Why isn't he wrapping it up, I said it's his Hall of Fame speech, and they were like go tell him again," he continued.
"The worst possible fear I could have was to tell Ric that you're a legend, you had a great career, get off the stage, please."
Naitch Didn't Mind Too Much
Triple H says Flair probably didn't mind too much but having to get the legend off the stage was simply too much for him.
"I don't even know if it was a big deal to him and that he remembered it, it was a whirlwind to him but, oh my god, for me, it was the worst moment ever," he said.
