After months of speculation and reports, Mercedes Mone is finally All Elite, officially debuting with AEW at the “Big Business” edition of AEW Dynamite, which was specifically branded around her arrival. When looking ahead to Mone’s time in AEW, there is certainly a lot of pressure on Tony Khan and how she is booked.

Will Opsreay will be making his full-time AEW debut very soon, and the expectations are high!

There are some things we definitely want to see from Mercedes Mone and her AEW career, such as potential matches, feuds, title wins, booking, and so much more. If Mone can drive a change in AEW for the women’s division, then it could be set to create an exciting new era for the company.

“The Boss” Character We Saw In NXT

Mone Is A Natural Heel

  • NXT saw the best version of Mercedes Mone
  • She helped make Bayley into a star
  • She is far better as a heel than babyface

As nice as it is to see Mercedes Mone as a babyface, and she should be for a while, eventually we want to see her turn heel in AEW. Especially during her time in NXT as “The Boss”, Mone had so much presence, attitude, personality, and star power.

WWE never really made the most of her as a heel on the main roster, but AEW has a chance to make up for those mistakes and have a successful heel run down the line. Someone with the star power of Mone being a heel and putting over newer babyfaces is a sure fire way to create some stars. She was a highlight of NXT TakeOvers with this gimmick.

A Rematch Between Mercedes Mone And Willow Nightingale

They Have History Together

  • AEW have already teased a match
  • This is a ready-made story
  • Nightingale needs a feud to help her truly break out

In 2023, Mercedes Mone was injured when taking on Willow Nightingale in a match to crown the first ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. Whether it be a match about proving oneself or revenge for taking away her moment, Mone setting her sights on Nightingale is something we want to see.

This has already been teased in AEW, but it shouldn’t just be a one off rematch - it should be a feud with a story, and it could help raise Nightingale’s star power higher.

Great Presentation To Entice Bigger Stars To AEW’s Women’s Division

Mone Needs To Be Presented Incredibly

  • AEW’s women’s division needs more stars
  • They bring in top male free agents but less female big stars
  • WWE, TNA, and others are still more enticing places of women’s wrestlers

AEW got it right on day one with the presentation of Mercedes Mone, but the next test is doing that week in and week out. We want to see this top class presentation because it will then allow AEW to enter bidding wars for stars entering the final stages of their contracts and enticing the biggest women’s wrestlers.

AEW’s division does have a lot of talent but not a lot of stars, and booking Mone right could bring in some top names across the world.

Crossing The Forbidden Door In The Women’s Division

The Women’s Division Hasn’t Done Much Door Hopping

  • Mercedes Mone needs to be a catalyst for more crossover
  • Mone has a history in Stardom/NJPW
  • There are many big potential matches for her

When AEW’s Forbidden Door events come up, the women’s division is left by the wayside. Mercedes Mone’s AEW debut, her history with Stardom, and the potential matches she can have against stars from elsewhere, can bring about something that fans want to see - more women crossing the Forbidden Door.

There is plenty to know about AEW's Serena Deeb and her life, both in the ring and out of it.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Stardom and CMLL were to be involved in the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV event, meaning that some women will in fact join the fray.

Personal Rivalry Between Mercedes Mone & Saraya

This Is Another Ready-Made Rivalry

  • Saraya has become stale in AEW
  • Mone inadvertently caused Saraya’s early retirement
  • This is an easy feud to build

Even though Saraya’s stock has fallen in AEW, all anyone needs is one good feud to procure some momentum. There is a history to build from when it comes to Mone and Saraya due to Saraya’s early retirement, caused by an unfortunate incident with Mone in a match in WWE.

This could be a very personal, heated, and intense rivalry if done right - something AEW needs much more of in the women’s division. A feud like this and building from their history could be great.

Mercedes Mone Elevating The TBS Championship

Mone Being A Workhorse Champion Could Be Fantastic

This could be something that comes way down the line, but Mercedes Mone winning the TBS Championship, perhaps on her way up to the top of the card to battle for the AEW Women’s World Championship later on, would be a great way to elevate the gold and make it feel like she has earned her place on the roster.

Mone is a fantastic wrestler, and this title should be all about workrate and defending it against anyone. In the world of AEW, Mone needs to show everyone just how good she still is in the ring, and doing that with the TBS Championship is something we want to see.

More Time For The Women’s Division With Non-Title Feuds

Mone’s Signature Needs To Bring Change For AEW

  • AEW needs more non-title women’s feuds
  • The biggest critique of the division is lack of time
  • Mone can build the division from the bottom

Whether it be a result of her signing or actually booking Mone in non-title feuds to flesh out the division, we want to see change and more time for the women’s roster in AEW.

Things have steadily improved but certainly not enough yet, and Mone being brought in can bring about that change even further. Keeping her out of the title scenes can help allow more women to shine and give the roster more to do.

Avoiding The AEW Women’s World Championship For A While

Mone Shouldn't Win The Title Quickly

  • Tony Khan should not push Mone to the title immediately
  • She needs time to develop in a new home
  • The title scene can be carried without her now

There could be a huge desire in AEW to put their biggest prize on Mone as quickly as possible, and for her to be the face of the division and world champion. However, we don’t want to see that straight away, and doing so could doom her AEW career.

Mone needs to earn that shot and win her way up the card before challenging for the top prize, otherwise it could rub up the rest of the roster the wrong way. It would also leave Mone with far less to do, with the world title being the ultimate prize. It would be a mistake to hot-shot her to the top, and we do not want to see it.

Mercedes Mone Taking On A Returning Britt Baker

Britt Baker Needs A Top Feud To Find Her Form

  • Britt Baker is one of AEW’s biggest female stars
  • Going toe-to-toe with Mone would be great
  • They could craft a memorable feud

Before her injury, Britt Baker had fallen out of the spotlight in AEW despite being arguably their most over female star ever. Whenever she returns, a feud with Mercedes Mone could help her stand out once more.

AEW has gone through ups and downs over the years. While they used of these wrestlers in the past, the company doesn't need them anymore.

Both women have charisma, Baker has had some of AEW’s best women’s matches, and it would be a feud to help the division overall.

Mercedes Mone Winning The AEW World Championship Eventually

Mone Should Become World Champion At Some Point

  • Down the line, Mone should be champion
  • A feud with Toni Storm would be great
  • Mone can be the face of the division

As much as we don’t want to see Mone win the AEW Women’s World Championship immediately, we do want to see her win it at some point down the line. A natural rise and climb, ending with a big celebratory victory would be fantastic.

It is a no-brainer to put the belt on Mone eventually given that she will be the biggest female star to have ever stepped foot in AEW. She is marketable, she would look great with the gold, and if done right, she could be the best AEW Women’s World Champion ever.
