The Ridiculous Story Of Sid Vicious Being Bitten By A Squirrel, Explained

Sid Vicious is someone who fans have certainly been mixed on over the years when it comes to his overall quality as a star in WWE and WCW. With him winning many World Championships in multiple promotions and even main eventing WrestleMania on two occasions, one would think that he is up there with the best of all time, although he was arguably nowhere near the best all-round performer by any stretch. Either way, his size led him to becoming a huge success wherever he went, making immediate impacts. Despite his imposing size and glory, Vicious isn’t immune to some of the weirdest and wackiest tales which exist within professional wrestling folklore. One of the more ridiculous stories comes from the time that he was allegedly bitten by a squirrel.

Sid Vicious Bought A Pet Squirrel To Aid Him With Life On The Road In WWE

The professional wrestling lifestyle, particularly in the WWE, can be a very tough one at times, with an incredibly busy schedule seeing stars compete nearly every day of the week in multiple different towns and cities. Living on the road was challenging for many names, with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, and many more suffering from the lack of sleep, the use of alcohol, and the lack of down time.

To try and aid the boredom and lethargy brought on by life on the road, which is likely to become lonesome at times, Sid Vicious decided to try and find a way of combating this. He made the decision to buy a pet to accompany him on his many travels to different parts of the country. On paper, this sounds like a decent idea, with a cat, dog, or even hamster providing a lot in terms of comfort, company, and fun. However, Vicious didn’t go with the obvious animals. Instead, he opted to choose a squirrel as his companion.

A Dare Involving His Squirrel Led To Sid Vicious Being Hospitalized

Vicious would bring the squirrel everywhere he went, with many stories alleging that he loved it just like anyone would love a common household pet. It was never clear why he chose a squirrel, nor where he managed to purchase what is usually a wild animal, but he got one regardless. During the 80s, 90s, and even all the way up the 00s, life backstage and on the road was full of jokes, pranks, ‘ribs’, and other occurrences which certainly went too far and weren’t for the faint of heart.

On one occasion, when Vicious decided to bring his squirrel to a show, he was dared by others on the roster to put the squirrel down his pants for a minute. It is certainly cruel to use an animal for entertainment like this, but unfortunately life was like that for the wrestlers at the time, with many opting for morally wrong ‘jokes’ over the years. To showcase his lack of fear, Vicious would in fact put the squirrel down his pants. Apparently, it took about thirty seconds for things to go south.

Squirrels are renowned for loving nuts, and Vicious’ were no different, as the animal decided to scratch and bite him down below, causing him to remove it in a panic before falling to the floor in pain. Vicious was taken to hospital and would receive several stitches and rabies shots. Whilst there isn’t an overwhelming large set of evidence or proof of a squirrel biting Sid Vicious in the nuts, it is certainly one of the more crazy and weird folk tales that exist within wrestling. It isn’t known how many stitches he received or what fate the squirrel would have in the aftermath, but the animal certainly had a snack that day, and if he was lucky, then perhaps enough to hibernate for the winter.
