With his Hollywood movie career coming to an end, one-time Broadway star Troy Hunter returns to New York at the behest of his friends Lily and Lester Marton, to star in their new Broadway musical. The Martons have already settled on director Jeffrey Cordova, which is the beginning of their problems. Cordova has never directed a musical and from the beginning sees the play as as being a work of art with grand themes.
