The NBA world is accustomed to watching Stephen Curry drill impossible three-pointers on a nightly basis, but what we saw in Game 2 on Sunday was truly a remarkable performance that had ever been seen before.
Curry made nine shots from downtown in Golden State's 122-103 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, putting the Dubs up 2-0 in the series - and having them in cruise control for a third championship in four years.
Curry led the Warriors with 33 points, drilling nine of his 17 three-point attempts while also racking up eight assists and seven rebounds. Right now, he has to be considered front-runner for the NBA Finals MVP Award - given his historic performances through the first two games.
The 2015 and 2016 regular season MVP owns plenty of three-point records, including the most made in a season (402) in 2015-16. He also went through a stretch of scoring a three in 157 regular season games, also an NBA record.
Though LeBron James of the Cavaliers has put on a playoff showing for the ages at 33, the short-handed Cleveland roster just hasn't been able to stop Curry or Kevin Durant, who look poised to successfully defend the NBA Championship.
The Warriors look to be in prime shape to become the first team to win three championships over a four-year span since the Los Angeles Lakers three-peated from 2000-02. When you have a shooter in Stephen Curry who can drill shots from anywhere, it's not going to be hard to win games.
Cleveland heads home for the next two games, and boy will they have it tough in trying to stop the red-hot Warriors. LeBron simply isn't enough on his own to take down this dynasty in the making, so the rest of the Cavaliers roster will have to get going.
Otherwise, Curry will cruise to yet another NBA Finals MVP Award.
