You never know these days who the WWE is thinking about releasing from their contract. A company that often undergoes budget cuts, surprising names frequently come across the news wire and the fan base reacts to a handful of questionable decisions WWE might be making on their talent roster. One name that was rumored to have been released this weekend was Shelton Benjamin. The WWE Superstar himself, that report is not accurate.
Benjamin took to Twitter on Saturday and wrote, "I have not been released from WWE. I obviously don’t know where this false report started (probably @MiaYim) but for those that cared thank you but at this time your concerns are premature."
A talent that has been around the industry for years, Benjamin was part of one of the more popular groups in the Hurt Business before WWE decided, for some inexplicable reason that even baffles Bobby Lashley -- to split the group. Since then, Benjamin and Cedric Alexander have been used in random tag and singles matches and often find themselves on the losing end. There's no real direction for either of their characters and rumors that the veteran might have been released understandably would have been met with little shock.

The most hilarious part of his response is that he's casually thrown Mia Yim under the bus.
Rumors Of Tag Team Return
That Benjamin's name came up in a rumor is interesting timing because there's been some speculation of late that some inside WWE are pushing for the company to bring back Charlie Haas and reform the World's Greatest Tag Team. With Kurt Angle having said he'd be open to working with WWE in the future, Haas has been making a comeback in the wresting business and there would probably be an appetite to see all three of these men reunite, even if just for a short-term storyline.
