Roman Reigns recently surpassed CM Punk's 434-day reign as a World Champion which has led to a lot of comparisons between the two.
CM Punk returned to wrestling earlier this year. Despite now working in different companies, he and Roman Reigns have been jumping at opportunities to take shots at each other. It all started when The Head of the Table claimed Punk doesn't move the needle.
434 Days
The verbal jabs might start back up this week as Reigns and Punk are being compared once again. That's because, at the time of writing this, Reigns has been Universal Champion for 435 days. On Sunday, The Tribal Chief's reign hit and moved past 434 days. That's how long Punk's historic reign as WWE Champion lasted.

There's an image that has been doing the rounds online comparing how many times each wrestler defended their titles during their respective runs as champion. The graphic claims Reigns has defended the Universal Title 16 times so far, while Punk defended the WWE Championship 141 times during the same period. It has quickly been highlighted that even if Punk defended the title at every single PPV and on every televised show, he still wouldn't have defended it 141 times.
A Lot Of Live Events
Punk's reign took place during a time when WWE was much more live event-driven, of course. He likely defended the title on untelevised shows a lot, which means 141 defenses in 434 days is entirely possible. It still seems unlikely, but odds are he defended the WWE Title a lot more than Reigns has defended the Universal Championship during his own 434-day reign.
The comparisons between WWE and AEW stars have been plentiful for obvious reasons. Since Reigns has been the one leading the way for the former for over a year now, he is often the one being compared to his AEW counterparts. Right now it's Punk, but before now it was Kenny Omega. Not just because Omega is the AEW Champion, but also because The Cleaner narrowly beat Reigns to the top of 2021's PWI 500.
