Resident Education Allowances
Education funds may be used for educational purchases such as books, CDs, journal subscriptions, memberships, state license fees, board fees, exam or conference fees, conference expenses, etc.
The cost to attend any meeting in which the resident is presenting original scholarly work will be reimbursed separately from the totals listed below ($3,000 maximum per conference, total of $15,000 reimbursed for 20 conference days for the entire residency).

Leave Benefits
Residents are allotted leave for vacation, illness, education, and exams. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to 30 days. All leave must be pre-approved by the program director.

Residents are given three additional days off throughout residency to interview for fellowship programs.

Moonlighting
There are several internal moonlighting opportunities for first through fourth years. First through third years participate in “contrast coverage” multiple days a week. Second and third years also perform joint injections (typically shoulder and hip arthrograms) at a nearby outpatient imaging facility. Fourth years partake in internal moonlighting on Saturdays and Sundays, reading diagnostic exams and performing basic procedures under the supervision of an attending radiologist. External moonlighting opportunities may also become available on a case-by-case basis.

- Institutional access to multiple online databases
- Third year residents attend the annual Duke Review Course in Durham, NC (or virtually), with registration fees paid for by KU Radiology.
- Radiology Resident Library
- Numerous In-print and digital textbooks covering all modalities and organ-systems
- Crack the Core books provided to third year residents for CORE Exam preparation.
