After being absent from WWE for many weeks, Raquel Rodriguez made her shocking return on the February 19 Raw as part of the "Last Chance" Battle Royal for the last spot in this weekend's Women's Elimination Chamber match from Perth, Australia. Rodriguez won the match, putting her closer to a chance to face Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. But just where has Raquel been?
Back in January, Raquel Rodriguez revealed that she had been diagnosed with something called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). According to Mast Cell Action:
In people affected by MCAS, chemicals called mast cell mediators are released too frequently or abundantly, and/or in response to triggers that are not typically considered to be harmful, for example; foods or chemicals in the environment. This can lead to a wide range of symptoms that affect multiple parts of the body.
MCAS is a condition many are not familiar with, so today Rodriguez shared a short video to Twitter/X showing several clips of how her body has been affected by it. The video shows Raquel with redness, lumps, and scaling all over her body, and in some moments she is seen crying. There was hope in the video, however, as she wrote:
The journey is far from over. I finally got some answers as to what caused this but it’s going to be a while til I can get it fully under control. I know one thing. I’m blessed to have an amazing support system. Family, friends, I love you all Keep pushing through the pain!
Raquel Rodriguez Missed Weeks Of WWE Because Of Scary Diagnosis
Raquel Rodriguez was out of action for well over a month with a disorder, but is now back and part of WWE's Elimination Chamber.Raquel Rodriguez Speaks About Her Battle With MCAS
Back in January, Raquel Rodriguez revealed to fans what she was battling, saying:
I've been diagnosed with something called Mass Cell Activation Syndrome. Basically, I was red and swollen and there was a lot happening in this area physically. It kept me from doing the things that I love like traveling, going to the gym, and wrestling and I also didn't want to be on camera. I didn't want to look in the mirror and I understand that all of those things can mess with someone both emotionally and mentally, but I'm glad I moved back to Dallas, Texas when I did. I had the best support system in the world during this time which is my family.
We at The Sportster are glad to see her back and wish her the best. She is a rare talent in WWE's women's division and is deserving of a big push.
