From February 2-8, 2022, a total of 186 sales units throughout New York City experienced price cuts. Among them was a penthouse in The Pierre that once belonged to acclaimed designer Yves St. Laurent and his longtime lover-turned-business partner Pierre Bergé. It was also owned by Valentino co-founder Giancarlo Giammetti; its most recent owner, luxury designer Tomas Meier, listed it for $7,995,000 in June 2021. Not only is The Pierre is located a short distance away from Madison Avenue's most rarefied shopping, but interior designers Jacques Grange, Jed Johnson, and Peter Marino created a jaw-dropping renovation that combines original details with contemporary touches.

The renovation includes custom lighting for art, custom hardware and hinges, an integrated sound system, and top-of-the-line finishes and details throughout. It was impossible, though, to improve on the spectacular views of Central Park, the Hudson River, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the George Washington Bridge. However, it had its price reduced by $1 million to $6,995,000. A full, sortable list of the past week's price cuts may be found below.
