WWE will end fans' more than two year wait for a new video game next month when it launches WWE 2K22. The game is getting mixed reactions so far as more and more about what it will include is slowly revealed. It has also drawn a lot of attention away from AEW's plans for its very first console game, but Kenny Omega pulled back some of that attention by shedding new light on the project recently.

Cross-Platform Support

Omega made an appearance on Wrestling Observer Radio during which he spoke about the game extensively, though he was careful not to say when it will finally be here. One of the biggest reveals was that the game will support cross-platform play. “We have a lot of match types, game modes, there is going to be cross-platform and an online component where you can create your own lobby,” Omega explained.

Cross-platform is a long-awaited but relatively new feature in the video game world. The ability to play games online even if you own a title on PlayStation and your friend has it on Xbox. Such a new concept that some studios still aren't interested. There has been no confirmation whether WWE 2K22 will do the same, although it seems likely as Community Creations will be able to be shared across multiple platforms.

Which Platforms Will Be All Elite?

As for which platforms AEW's unnamed game will be available on, Omega did not divulge that information. Probably PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC and maybe even Nintendo Switch. That's all speculation at this point, and it's also worth noting that there has currently been no mention of WWE 2K22 launching on Switch. It might happen eventually but won't arrive on March 11 as is the plan for other platforms.

Omega wasn't shy about discussing WWE 2K22 when talking about AEW's game, and what he had to say about the competitor was all positive. The Cleaner admitted that AEW's first offering will struggle to compete with 2K22. That makes sense since WWE has been in the video game business for 30 years whereas this will be AEW's very first attempt at creating a title for consoles.
