AEW hasn't been the key to rejuvenating certain ex-WWE Superstars' careers that some of them hoped. There's no doubt it has been everything others wanted and more though, and at the top of that list is one of the first to jump ship, Jon Moxley. Not only has Mox been AEW's World Champion, but between the violent matches and trips to Japan, he's basically being paid to do the wrestling he knows and loves best.

A Wrestling First

Mox is far from done too, recently pointing to something he'd like to achieve next that not only has he never managed to do, but nobody has. “I’ve become both the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the AEW World Champion, but I haven’t become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion yet,” Moxley told Tokyo Sports (H/T to TJR Wrestling for the transcription).

“I don’t think there’s anyone out there who’s wrapped up. If I’m going to fight Sanada, I have an image of myself as the IWGP World Champion, so it might be interesting.” Moxley's right, no one in wrestling history has ever won all three of those titles, but he's not the only active wrestler who is just one title win away from becoming the first to do so.

Who Might Beat Him To It?

In fact, he's not the only AEW star who just needs to win the IWGP Title to complete the set. CM Punk has been WWE and AEW Champion so would just need to beat Sanada for New Japan's title to finish this previously little-discussed triple crown. The same applies to Chris Jericho, someone you might have assumed has managed to win all three. While Le Champion won the IWGP Intercontinental Title before it was unified with the World Title, he has technically never won NJPW's top prize.

Also just one title win away is Kenny Omega. Omega has been IWGP and AEW Champion but has never won the WWE Title. Something that is potentially on the cards if he lets his AEW deal expire so he can test the WWE waters. In WWE, AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar have both been WWE and IWGP Champions so would need to leave the company, sign with AEW, and win its World Title to beat Moxley to the first he wants to achieve. As far as who is the most likely of everyone above to complete the trio first, it does seem like Mox stands the best chance.
