It appears the rumors and reports circulating about the unannounced WWE 2K23 have finally forced the studio to buckle and officially reveal a few details. As was leaked last week, John Cena will indeed be its cover star. The 16-time World Champion will also be the star of its Showcase mode despite a leaked list of matches hinting Edge would be the one getting his career spotlighted in-game this year.
John Cena Is On The Cover
As reported by VGC, Cena's showcase mode will span his 20-year career, although the list of matches included has not yet been revealed. It has been revealed that Cena has narrated the mode himself. As for when you will get the chance to play it, WWE 2K23 will launch on March 17, or three days earlier on March 14 if you pre-order one of the premium versions of the game.

There will be three versions of the game available and Cena will be on the covers of all of them. The regular version, a deluxe edition, and the icon edition. While all of the bonuses you'll get with the deluxe and icon edition haven't yet been revealed, the cover for the former will feature the Thuganomics era version of Cena, and an artsy style of a more modern and hyped version of Cena on the latter.
Bad Bunny Is A Pre-Order Bonus
Also revealed today was the inclusion of Bad Bunny as a playable character in a WWE game for the first time. The rapper-turned-wrestler will be a pre-order bonus for players who commit to buying the game early. It is likely Bad Bunny can be bought and downloaded separately after the game launches as that tends to the case with WWE 2K's pre-order bonuses.
WWE 2K23 will also be the first game in the series that will include the promotion's take on the WarGames match. Players will be able to compete in 3v3 and 4v4 matches inside the iconic cage across two rings. A full trailer for the game will likely still debut this weekend at Royal Rumble, although it's also possible it premieres tonight during Raw's 30th anniversary.
