Jarron Saint Onge

Overview

Professor Saint Onge is a sociologist and social demographer by training. He has expertise in nationally representative survey data, U.S. Census data, and quantitative data analysis. His research has been focused on understanding how social determinants of health continue to influence health disparities, by sociodemographic characteristics such as race/ethnicity or socioeconomic status. Specifically, his research has been focused on the relative importance of social and residential context (i.e., neighborhoods factors) on health behaviors, as well as well as implications for distinct health lifestyles and subsequent health and mortality outcomes. He is dedicated to improving the health of marginalized communities, with recent research focused on health behaviors for race/ethnic minorities, rural populations, and same-sex couples.
