Northwest scouts love Altobelli for how he plays the game and goes about his business. It's no surprise that he has a high baseball IQ because he grew up around the game, and his father John has been the head coach at Orange Coast (Calif.) CC for more than 20 years. J.J. has a lean, athletic build at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. He is a surehanded defender at shortstop with an average arm. He offers little power, but he puts together good at-bats. As a senior with position value and strong makeup, Altobelli could get drafted in the top 10 rounds.
