Martial arts-loving, pizza-eating, cowabunga-ing brothers Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are back in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a new animated reboot of the beloved '80s and '90s cartoon series.

This time around, the four crime-fighting brothers are presented as actually being more like regular teenagers, who are eager to break free of their home in the sewers and their overprotective father figure Splinter (voiced by Jackie Chan), and find a place for themselves in the above-ground world of New York City, which is falling under threat from similarly "oozed" mutant creatures led by Superfly (Ice Cube). The turtles must team up with April O'Neil (Ayo Edebiri) to uncover a conspiracy, kick some ass, and thwart the bad guys.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is in theaters right now

The movie was released nationwide on August 2, and so far has grossed over $61 million: not bad for a movie about something other than nuclear bombs and plastic dolls in the summer of Barbenheimer. Check out screening times near you and ticket prices here.
