Professional wrestling has seen many different power couples over the years. There are numerous iconic duos, with one of the most recent additions being the real life couple of WWE wrestler Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona. In the past couple of years, they quickly established themselves as one of the most important couples in professional wrestling when they were both gone from WWE. However, their relationship goes far beyond the ropes of the squared circle. The couple got engaged in 2019 and tied the knot in 2021. In addition, the story of how they met also involved another one of wrestling's power couples.

The Rhodes' Help Lead Chelsea Green And Matt Cardona To One Another
As they both have commented, they met because of Cody and Brandi Rhodes. The Rhodes family had come to Impact Wrestling, where Green was wrestling at the time. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Green said, “Every day, probably like three days in a row, Brandi said something about Zack Ryder.” Initially, Green did not have interest in dating a wrestler, even unfollowing Cardona on Twitter. Cardona felt the same way as well. He told TVInsider, “I didn’t want to date a wrestler. I won’t say I was peer pressured into dating you, but Cody [Rhodes] and Brandi set us up.” However, Cardona ended up messaging Green on social media. And after their second date, Green said “This is it. I love him. That’s that.”
The Cardonas Tie The Knot And Renew Their Vows In The Ring
The couple had gotten engaged in April 2019, however their wedding ended up getting delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually, the couple got married on December 31, 2021. A number of their friends in professional wrestling were a part of their wedding parties. Some of Green’s bridesmaids included Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D, Deonna Purrazzo, Santana Garrett, and Taya Valkyrie. Among Cardona’s groomsmen were Brian Myers, Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, The Miz, and Cody Rhodes.
The Cardonas would also renew their vows at GCW Homecoming. In a ceremony officiated by Maven, the two renewed their vows to one another. Cardona donned an outfit reminiscent of the legendary “Macho Man” Randy Savage. However, as has been seen in numerous professional wrestling wedding ceremonies, it ended in chaos. The ceremony ended up being crashed by Nick Gage and Allie Katch. Katch smashed the cake into Green’s face and then delivered a piledriver to her. Gage attacked Cardona and then used his signature pizza cutter against him.

The Cardonas Take On Everyone In Several Wrestling Promotions
The Cardonas became one of the most in demand couples in professional wrestling. Teaming in Impact Wrestling for the first time together at Slammiversary to face Brian Myers and Tenille Dashwood, their chemistry in the ring was undeniable. They took this to a number of professional wrestling promotions. They were seen together in Impact Wrestling, GCW, NWA, and countless more companies. Green often involved herself in Cardona’s matches to help him get the upper hand in and get wins. They also teamed together to take on numerous different opponents, such as Effy and Katch, collectively BUSSY, and Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt. Together, with their allies Brian Myers, “Smart” Mark Sterling, and more, they took over professional wrestling.
The Cardonas have amassed a lot of success, both together and individually. They grew their characters greatly outside WWE to become a duo not to be messed with. With endless amounts of talent between the two of them, they will only continue to become one of professional wrestling’s most powerful wrestling couples of all time, with Green now back in WWE and Cardona still competing across promotions, one thing is for sure; both in and out of the ring, it's apparent that the love and chemistry between the two is strong.
