Tonight AEW held its annual Revolution PPV in San Francisco, California. It is one of their four annual PPVs, which arguably makes it more notable than one of WWE's numerous annual premium live events. The main event features AEW World Champion MJF taking on Bryan Danielson in a one-hour Iron Man Match. Stagnant, convoluted booking has left many fans feeling ostracized from the product. This PPV, then, provided a crucial opportunity to turn things around and get momentum back in their favor.
The House Of Black Finally Holds Gold In AEW
The first title match of the night was for the AEW World Trios Championships between the defending Elite and their challengers, the House of Black. The Elite were the inaugural Trios Champions, winning the belts at All Out last year. However, just a few days later they were stripped of their titles following a physical altercation between them and CM Punk.
After an exhilarating seven-match series with the Death Triangle, the Elite recaptured the AEW Trios Championships. A few weeks later, the House of Black called their shot by ambushing the Elite during an episode of AEW Dynamite.
Their match tonight was as fast-paced and physical as fans would expect; it featured an impressive mix of high-flying stunts and brutality that had fans loud and engaged from start to finish.
This victory marks the first title win for any member of the House of Black in AEW; Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews have always had an intimidating presence as a team, but were yet to earn any especially notable victories. That, of course, changed tonight. With the AEW tag team division in flux at the moment, here's hoping the House of Black can bring some excitement and prestige to the trios' division.
