Technically, Vision was born midway through Avengers: Age of Ultron, when the Avengers put Tony Stark’s advanced artificial intelligence system, J.A.R.V.I.S. and the Mind Stone (which was previously in Loki’s scepter in The Avengers) into a synthetic, superpowered body that Ultron was planning to take for himself. Vision was then born—a powerful, yet confused, android, learning to be more and more human little by little. Vision helps defeat Ultron, and joins the team for Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. [SPOILER] Vision dies twice in Infinity War; first sacriificed by Scarlet Witch, who kills him by ripping the mind stone out of his head, destroying it so Thanos can’t get it, and then again, by Thanos himself, after turning time back and undoing Scarlet Wtich’s action. We’ll have to see how WandaVision gets around that.
Bettany, meanwhile, has been one of the most unique actors in the industry for quite some time. On top of being one of Marvel’s longest-tenured cast members (he voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. since the original Iron Man, seven years before ever becoming Vision), he’s also played supporting roles in a number of movies, like A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code, and A Knight’s Tale. He’s been a RomCom lead opposite Kirsten Dunst in WImbeldon, and played a Star Wars villain in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Most recently, he appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s film Uncle Frank, a touching and enjoyable film set in 1973 about a college professor and his niece returning home to the south from New York City for a family member’s funeral.
