It's been close to a year now since WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg last wrestled a match — against Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber 2022 pay-per-view on Feb. 19.Goldberg turns 56 years of age later this month, but the former professional football player is not ready to call it quits in the ring just yet. Back in the summer, Goldberg stated in an interview that he's still under contract with the WWE. The two-time Universal Champion is usually saved for major WWE events, so with Royal Rumble 2023 and WrestleMania 39 not too far away, could we see him return soon? That remains to be seen, but the bottom line is that Goldberg isn't planning to walk away, at least not before wrestling again. During an interview with Max Kellerman on 92.9 FM ESPN (via Rick Ucchino of 700WLW in Cincinnati) Goldberg made it clear that the aforementioned showdown with Reigns at Elimination Chamber will not be his swan song match.[EMBED_TWITTER]RELATED: Backstage Note On John Cena's WrestleMania 39 Status [Report]After a 12-year hiatus, Goldberg returned to the WWE in 2016 to rekindle his feud with Brock Lesnar. The two men headlined the Survivor Series pay-per-view, where Goldberg squashed his former rival in just a matter of seconds. Lesnar would go on to defeat Goldberg in their final showdown at WrestleMania 34 to become the new Universal Champion.Goldberg has been heavily used in the main event scene during his second run with WWE. He defeated Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt at Fastlane 2017 and Super ShowDown 2020, respectively, to claim the Universal titles. He has also feuded with other top stars such as Bobby Lashley, fellow Hall of Famer The Undertaker, Braun Strowman and The Undertaker.
WWE Should Bring Goldberg Back In Early 2023
Goldberg probably won't be used in the world championship scenes anymore, but he's one of the few nostalgic performers still wrestling. He remains a big draw for the company, and his popularity remains tremendously high. WWE should bring him in for the Royal Rumble and/or WrestleMania to add more excitement, as there has been a shortage on the usage of legends laely.
