WWE 2K23's final DLC pack hits the game today. You might have even downloaded and made use of it by the time you read this. Adding Wade Barrett to a WWE game for the first time since 2016, and bringing Eve Torres into the fold for the first time in a decade, the Bad News U pack adds five more Superstars to an already very big roster. However, a deep dive into the new update may have hinted there are more wrestlers to come.

Update 1.16

Each pack comes with an update since an update is needed for the new Superstars to be applied to everyone's rosters, but those updates always do a little more than that. Today's 1.16 update fixes a few issues players have reported, and some investigative work courtesy of WhatsTheStatus has also revealed 2K23's roster might not be complete just yet despite the announced DLC all being out there now.

WhatsTheStatus has discovered a number of new slots, some for alternate versions of Superstars already in 2K23, and a few more hinting at classic attires for some other wrestlers. The first, and arguably most exciting, discovery was Stunning Steve Austin. The Stunning version of Steve Austin has been a playable character in previous WWE games, but not the latest one. The new slot for the man Austin was before he became Stone Cold might mean he's coming soon.

Invasion-Era Booker T

Also discovered is an additional slot for Booker T, the description for which suggests whatever's coming will be based on his look from 2001, so when he first signed with WWE after the WCW acquisition. There's also one in there for Randy Orton circa Armageddon 2003. That's the show on which The Viper beat Rob Van Dam for the Intercontinental Title.

All of this might mean WWE 2K23 is about to get a slew of free content, adding different versions of Superstars for players to use freely in all of the game's modes. 2K has already added a couple of wrestlers to the roster for everyone, regardless of whether you have purchased access to the DLC or not. Mia Yim and Candice LeRae were the two added to the game, so there's precedent for more of that in the future.

The other explanation, and perhaps the more likely one, is that these additional slots are connected to MyFaction. The card-based mode featured in the last two editions of WWE 2K which is probably popular with a lot of people, but the reveal that these new slots are for that mode only will be a bit of a letdown.
