Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has the chance to be one of the highest paid free agents this offseason, but don't expect the four-time All-Star to look for a new home this offseason.

According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, executives he talked to "would be shocked if Thompson left the Warriors," even though he has the chance to enter the free agent market for the first time of his storied career.

There have been rumors that Thompson would leave the Warriors and join a new team in the offseason, with the hometown Los Angeles Lakers being mentioned as a possible landing spot.

But for Thompson, it'd be hard to leave a team that's already produced three NBA championships in a four-year span. And right now, there's no sign that this dynasty will eventually unravel. For all we know, they could wind up winning as many as six championships together.

The Warriors may need Thompson to take a pay cut, however. Draymond Green isn't expected to take a hometown discount on his next deal, and he's only under contract through the 2019-20 season.

If Kevin Durant doesn't leave this summer -  there are rumors that he will - the Warriors will use a big chunk of their remaining cap space to extend him. Stephen Curry already signed the supermax extension, so the Warriors can't ask him to sign a hometown discount deal.

But if Thompson wants to stay with the super team Warriors and win more championships, he'll surely need to take a pay cut. The All-Star shooting guard has been vital to their success in the 2010s, and it's hard to envision him wanting to leave just for a few extra million bucks.

Thompson is one of the greatest three-point shooters in NBA history, and he and Curry alone would keep this team in title contention for years. But keeping Green and/or Durant is also must-do for the front office. As such, don't be surprised if Thompson happily signs an extension at a lower price to remain with Golden State.
