Netflix's sequel series That '90s Show will see the return of multiple That '70s Show original actors and characters alongside Red and Kitty.

Every That 70s Show Character Returning In That 90s Show

Netflix’s That ‘90s Show is bringing back the majority of That ‘70s Show’s original cast and characters, with those returning taking on main roles or guest appearances. Reviving the sitcom more than 15 years after That ‘70s Show came to an end, That ‘90s Show will follow a new generation of Point Place teens in the summer of 1995, with the sequel series even reusing Red and Kitty's iconic basement. Adding to the nostalgia of That ‘90s Show will be the returning teen and adult characters from the original sitcom, who are now passing on the torch of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll-fueled misadventures to a new group of teenagers.

Taking the lead on That ‘90s Show is Callie Haverda as Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of That ‘70s Show’s Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti. While Donna and Eric’s romantic reunion was left slightly ambiguous at the very end of That ‘70s Show’s finale, Leia’s synopsis confirms that the will-they-won’t-they pair survived the original decade to raise a family throughout the ‘80s. Leia will be spending the summer in Point Place with her grandparents Red and Kitty Forman in That ‘90s Show, who are still living in their iconic home, but with slightly-updated wallpapers for the new era. As Netflix returns audiences to Point Place, Wisconsin, the sequel series is planning to bring back several familiar faces from That ‘70s Show to see how much they have (or haven’t) changed over the past 15 years.

While the main focus of That ‘90s Show will be on the new cast of teens that Leia Forman befriends in Point Place, one of the most anticipated aspects of the new series will be the cameos of the original characters. Netflix and a few of the actors have already confirmed that many of That ‘70s Show’s characters will appear in That ‘90s Show, though only two returning characters are billed in leading roles. One main cast member from That ‘70s Show will definitely be absent from the sequel series, as Steven Hyde actor Danny Masterson is soon facing criminal trial on several charges of sexual assault – for which Netflix fired him from The Ranch in 2017. Aside from those who won’t be reprising their roles, here’s a breakdown of every That ‘70s Show actor and character confirmed to return in Netflix's upcoming That ‘90s Show.

Kitty Forman

Kitty That '70s Show Season 8

That ‘90s Show is bringing back Debra Jo Rupp as Kitty Forman, the caring mother of Eric and Laurie Forman in That ‘70s Show. Largely serving as a mother figure to all the teens throughout the series, That ‘70s Show season 8 finally gave Kitty more significant plotlines and a chance to shine after Topher Grace’s Eric left the sitcom. With Kitty returning as a main character in That ‘90s Show, the spinoff will be continuing this positive change by letting Rupp once again serve as the caretaker for a new generation of Point Place’s rebellious teens. While Kitty and her daughter Laurie never saw eye-to-eye, That ‘90s Show is apt to see a more loving relationship between the character and her granddaughter, Leia.

Red Forman

Also returning as a main character in That ‘90s Show is Kurtwood Smith’s Red Forman, the grumpy and watchful father of Eric and Laurie. Red’s return means That ‘90s Show will inevitably feature a slew of “dumbass” and “foot in ass” jokes for the new cast members, but they can also be expected to be aimed at the returning original That ‘70s Show teens. It’s unlikely that Red will have changed much since That ‘70s Show’s timeline, but it’ll be curious to see how well he gets along with Leia. Since she’s been described as having Eric’s snarky mouth and Donna’s intelligence, Red and Leia are apt to butt heads from time to time in That ‘90s Show.

Eric Forman

Topher Grace is confirmed to reprise his role as Eric Forman in That ‘90s Show, where he’ll have a guest appearance presumably alongside Donna and their daughter Leia. It’s yet to be revealed if Eric and Donna ever officially got married, but after 15 years and a child, this progression can be expected. While Eric served as the main protagonist of That ‘70s Show until season 7, Topher Grace left the series before season 8 to pursue other acting opportunities. The character returned for a brief appearance in That ‘70s Show’s series finale, with Eric and Donna sharing a kiss before joining in on The Circle with the gang in the basement. Now that Eric is coming back again, That ‘90s Show can finally reveal what happened to him in Africa.

Donna Pinciotti

That 70s Show

While Donna had been clear that she didn’t want children yet and was focused on going to college and starting her career, she and Eric having a teenager in 1995 suggests the 1980s didn’t go as originally planned. Nonetheless, Laura Prepon will be returning as Donna Pinciotti in That ‘90s Show, where she’ll make at least a guest appearance to reveal what became of her leading That ‘70s Show character. Still assumed to be with Eric in the present day, That ‘90s Show will finally depict Donna as a mother, with the character expected to have the successful writing career that she dreamed about in her youth.

Michael Kelso

Kelso in That '70s Show

That ‘70s Show’s resident idiot character Michael Kelso is returning in That ‘90s Show, where the sequel series can answer plenty of mysteries about Ashton Kutcher’s iconic role. Kelso departed at the beginning of That ‘70s Show season 8 to move to Chicago, as he was taking on more responsibility in raising his infant daughter, Betsy, after a one-night stand with Brooke. In That ‘70s Show’s finale, Kelso returned for one last celebration on New Year’s Eve with the gang, whereafter he was heading back to his job as a bouncer at The Playboy Club in Chicago. While Jackie entered a relationship with Fez at the end of That ‘70s Show, there’s been much speculation about if she and Kelso will have gotten back together before That ‘90s Show considering their actors, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, have since married in real life.

Jackie Burkhart

Mila Kunis has also been confirmed to reprise her role as Jackie Burkhart in That ‘90s Show, with the character having appeared in every single episode of the original series. The shallow yet lovable character became one of That ‘70s Show’s best figures through her personal growth over the series’ eight seasons, though Jackie’s endgame romance still remains controversial. While Jackie ended That '70s Show in a new relationship with Fez, many fans still lobbied for her to end up with her previous boyfriends Hyde or Kelso, where the latter choice seems most likely in the sequel series. Jackie is apt to be a famous reporter, talk-show host, or TV persona in the spinoff’s timeline, with the character perhaps returning for the released That ‘90s Show 4th of July reunion.

Fez

The mysterious That ‘70s Show character is making an appearance in That ‘90s Show, with Wilmer Valderrama confirmed to bring back his iconic role of Fez. With so many unanswered questions about Fez in terms of his relationship status, home country, and real name, That ‘90s Show will be the perfect way to solve the character’s biggest mysteries. The end of Fez’s storyline in That ‘70s Show was left fairly ambiguous outside of his romance with Jackie, so his appearance in That ‘90s Show will be full of surprising reveals for the beloved character.

Leo

That 70s Show

Tommy Chong’s Leo is the first recurring That ‘70s Show character confirmed to return in That ‘90s Show, with Point Place’s resident stoner set to make at least a small appearance in Netflix’s sequel series. First introduced as Hyde’s boss at the Fotohut, Leo quickly became a familiar face in That ‘70s Show as a semi-father figure to Hyde while also a major contrast to the law-abiding lifestyles of Kitty and Red Forman. Leo suddenly disappeared from That ‘70s Show seasons 5 and 6 before returning in season 7, which was due to Tommy Chong’s real-life arrest for possession of marijuana and selling drug paraphernalia – a fate that could have easily applied to his own character. Perhaps serving as the new weed dealer for That ‘90s Show’s teens, Leo will be back as Point Place’s iconic stoner character from That ‘70s Show.
