The rivalry betweenRandy Orton and Edge kickstarted in 2004 over the Intercontinental Championship with some excellent matches. They would go their separate ways but they would form Rated-RKO in 2006 and the World Tag Team Championship came their way. Nevertheless, Orton and Edge always worked extremely well as opponents are they two of the most experienced in-ring performers. The Viper has been trusted to wrestle Edge both times when the Rated-R Superstar returned to WWE in 2004 and in 2020, which is a testament to his greatness.RELATED: 10 Tag Teams Who Were Better As Rivals25 WWE world championships between them is simply outstanding. Edge and Orton's rivalry freshened up as both had a chance to play as a babyface and a heel in their feud. However, despite all of the experience, it doesn't guarantee that they always had five-star epics, some of their matches were underwhelming but the majority were phenomenal encounters.

Edge v Randy Orton Raw June 7, 2010 Cropped

The June 7, 2010 edition of Raw is best remembered for the Nexus wreaking havoc and making their WWE debut. Nevertheless, there was a one-on-one match between Randy Orton and Edge on that show.

There was no point in this match happening as Orton's arm was in a sling but Edge had one hand tied behind his back. It was by far the worst match in their series of matches as Edge unloaded some punches on Orton and he got disqualified since his arm was untied.

9 Over The Limit 2010

Randy Orton has a history of shoulder injuries, and those problems resurfaced in his marquee match with Edge at Over the Limit 2010. The Rated-R Superstar returned to Raw after spending three years on SmackDown, and he turned heel once again.

Unfortunately, they never had the chance to get out of first gear as Orton's right shoulder was legitimately injured. Somehow he managed to power through but the pain proved to be too much. An audible was called with Edge attempting to spear Orton through the barricade but the Viper moved out of the way. It was a disappointing finish but health comes first with the match ending prematurely in a double count-out.

The first meeting between Edge and Randy Orton was on the May 10, 2004, edition of Raw. Edge challenged Orton for the Intercontinental Championship, and he was looking for the Intercontinental Title to go alongside the World Tag Team Championship that he held with Chris Benoit.

Parts of the match were slow-paced but it was a feeling-out process with both men getting used to each other's skillsets. Ric Flair came down to ringside to support his fellow Evolution stablemate, Orton. Nevertheless, the match slightly improved and Orton took advantage of Edge spearing Naitch off the apron by retaining his Intercontinental Title with a roll-up.

7 Raw 2/1/21

Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble match at Randy Orton's expense as the number one entrant. However, Edge and Orton managed to settle the score with both registering one win apiece on the February 1, 2021 episode of Raw.

The Rated-R Superstar was aggressive right from the get-go, but Orton wasn't going to give up so easily. Their match went back and forth but Alexa Bliss' interference threw Orton off guard with Edge successfully ending their feud after finishing off Orton with his trademark Spear.

6 Raw 12/13/04

Edge and Randy Orton's paths crossed again on an edition of Raw that took place on December 13, 2004. Once again, this was a competitive bout, and Orton nailed Edge with a thunderous clothesline that sent Edge over the top rope. The pendulum swung back in Edge's favor after he speared Orton through the ropes.

Both men got Raw off to a strong start in a superb contest. The match was extremely athletic with near falls aplenty but the night belonged to the Legend Killer who saw off Edge with an RKO in a hard-fought win.

5 WrestleMania 36

For the first time in almost a decade, Edge and Randy Orton collided in one-on-one action and it was in the Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36. Unfortunately, this wasn't the return to WrestleMania that Edge had envisaged with the match taking place behind closed doors in the Performance Center because of the coronavirus pandemic.

This was the second-longest match in the history of WrestleMania but it went on longer than it needed to. Nonetheless, they made use of their surroundings and did the best they could without a live crowd but the Ultimate Opportunist earned a huge win.

4 Raw 4/30/07

Rated-RKO had imploded by 2007, and the former World Tag Team Champions clashed in an underrated classic on the April 30, 2007 edition of Raw. Both men were heels but fans decided that their loyalties were with Orton.

There was a little bit of drama added to the match with Orton wearing the proverbial crimson mask. Orton and Edge's chemistry was great, and the former world champions showed why they are amongst the best of the best. It was a valiant effort from Orton as he attempted to nail Edge with the RKO but Edge's spear earned him the win in the opening match of the night.

3 Raw 7/19/04

Randy Orton was out for revenge after Edge ended his 210-day run with the Intercontinental Championship, and they collided on July 19, 2004, episode of Raw. They closed out the show, and they did not fail to disappoint. There were countless near falls with fans in awe at what they were witnessing.

The referee was knocked down, and Orton tried to get the upper hand as he was going to hit Edge with a steel chair. Orton connected with the RKO but Edge managed to kick out with the referee eventually coming round. Ultimately, Orton failed to execute the RKO again with Edge executing a backslide and he put his feet on the ropes to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

2 Vengeance 2004

Edge had an uphill battle when it came down to unseating Randy Orton for the Intercontinental Championship at Vengeance 2004. Orton raised his level in Intercontinental Championship bouts as he was virtually unbeatable but Edge was determined to beat Orton for the gold.

This match goes under the radar but Edge and Orton did an exceptional job, and they tore the house down in unquestionably the match of the night. Orton and Edge had several false finishes but Edge managed to nail Orton with the spear to become a five-time Intercontinental Champion.

1 Backlash 2020

There was immense pressure on Edge and Randy Orton to deliver a brilliant match in the main event of Backlash 2020 as the bout was billed up as "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever." However, there's a privilege that comes with pressure, and these two showed why they have 25 world titles between them as they brought out the best in each other by thriving on the pressure.

This was a war of attrition as they slugged it out for almost 45 minutes. Again, it's a shame that no crowd was present as the atmosphere would have been electric. Unfortunately, the WWE Hall of Famer picked up an untimely injury which put him on the shelf for seven months with Orton earning a significant win over Edge.
