Unquestionably, Hulk Hogan is a household name in the professional wrestling industry. It certainly hasn't been plain sailing for Hogan as controversy is not far behind. The Hulkster was pivotal to the success of WWE in the '80s as Hulkamania ran wild with Hogan being popular with the fans. Whether he was in WWE or WCW, Hogan always found himself in the main event scene and consistently competing for world championships. Either in his traditional red and yellow outfit or donned in nWo colors, Hogan captured 12 world titles with six reigns apiece with the WWE and WCW Championships. He has beaten some Hall of Fame-caliber wrestlers for his collection of world championship reigns.

12 Hulk Hogan Vs. Kevin Nash - Nitro 1/4/99

January 4, 1999, was a significant date in the wrestling business. Mankind defeated The Rock for the WWE Championship on Monday Night Raw, and on an episode of WCW Nitro, Hulk Hogan challenged Kevin Nash for the WCW Championship.

Instead of it being a proper match it was a farce and Hogan was dressed in his street clothes. Hogan pointed at Nash, and Nash dropped like he had been shot with a gun. This moment became known as the Fingerpoke of Doom, and the Hulkster captured the WCW Title for the fifth time.

11 Hulk Hogan Vs. Yokozuna - WrestleMania IX

At WrestleMania IX, Bret Hart lost the WWE Championship to Yokozuna. Hulk Hogan came down to ringside, and he challenged the newly crowned WWE Champion to an impromptu match.

There was a miscue between Mr. Fuji and Yokozuna as Fuji accidentally threw salt in his charge's eyes. Hogan took advantage of the situation, and he emphatically beat Yokozuna with a leg drop for his fifth WWE Championship reign for his farewell tour before he headed south to WCW.

January 23, 1984, is one of the most important dates in WWE history. The Iron Sheik defended the WWE Championship against Hulk Hogan inside a jam-packed crowd in Madison Square Garden.

This wasn't the best of WWE Championship bouts but it was the birth of Hulkamania as Hogan beat Sheik for his first WWE Championship. The wrestling business changed for the better, and Hogan went on to hold the prestigious WWE Title for four years.

9 Hulk Hogan Vs. The Giant - Hog Wild 1996

Hog Wild 1996 featured one of the worst main events in the history of WCW. The Giant's WCW Championship was up for grabs, and Hulk Hogan was aiming to recapture the WCW Title.

Hogan kept on retreating to the outside before the match began. It was a slow and methodical bout and Hogan had his nWo allies Kevin Nash and Scott Hall interfere. The Giant laid both of them out with a Chokeslam but Hogan prevailed after he nailed The Giant in the face with the WCW Championship belt. After the bout, Hogan infamously spray-painted the belt with nWo imprinted on it.

Hulk Hogan was hoping to replicate his WCW Championship victory at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for the second year in succession. This time around, Lex Luger was standing in Hogan's way at the 1997 edition of Road Wild.

Hogan took a stranglehold of proceedings with the Total Package in a world of trouble. However, there was a slight shift in momentum when Hogan was showboating and Luger battled back. Nevertheless, the nWo interrupted but Luger fended them off. Sting blindsided Luger by hitting him in the back with his trademark baseball bat, and Hogan triumphed with his patented Leg Drop for another WCW Title run.

7 Hulk Hogan Vs. Triple H - Backlash 2002

After tearing the house down with The Rock at WrestleMania X8, Hulk Hogan was rewarded with a WWE Championship title opportunity against Triple H at Backlash 2002. This was another dream match for both men but it failed to live up to the expectations.

The Game was building some momentum after winning the 2002 Royal Rumble match, and capped off by beating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania X8 for the WWE Title. Unfortunately, Hogan stopped Triple H in his tracks and he captured his sixth and final WWE Championship all thanks to The Undertaker.

6 Hulk Hogan Vs. Randy Savage Nitro 7/12/99

Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage's storied rivalry is well documented. They renewed hostilities for Macho Man's WCW Championship on the July 12, 1999 episode of Nitro. The Hulkster let his intentions known right from the start as he nailed Savage with a couple of chair shots to the back.

Savage pushed Gorgeous George into Hogan which allowed him to gain control of the bout, and he hit him viciously with a belt. However, Sid Vicious interfered, and he assaulted Hogan. Ultimately, Kevin Nash planted Savage with a jaw-dropping Jackknife Powerbomb which allowed Hogan to pin Savage for his sixth WCW Championship reign.

5 Hulk Hogan Vs. The Undertaker - This Tuesday In Texas 1991

The Undertaker beat Hulk Hogan for his first WWE Championship reign at Survivor Series 1991, and Hogan invoked his rematch clause just six days later at This Tuesday in Texas. Undertaker still operated very slow and methodical but this WWE Championship match was relatively decent.

Undertaker was unbeaten at this point, and before the bell sounded, he and his manager Paul Bearer double teamed Hogan. Hogan weathered the storm, but there was a miscommunication between Undertaker and Bearer with Bearer hitting the Deadman with the urn. The Hulkster rolled up Undertaker to kickstart another WWE Championship reign.

Iraqi-sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter received a hostile reception in his WWE Championship title defense against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VII. Neither Hogan or Slaughter were the greatest inside the squared circle but they managed to put on an underrated WWE Title match.

Slaughter was extremly aggressive, and Hogan wore the proverbial crimson mask after Slaughter hit Hogan in the head with a steel chair. The result was never in doubt since Slaughter was a transitional WWE Champion, and Hogan reclaimed the title much to the delight of the fans.

3 Hulk Hogan Vs. Randy Savage - Nitro 4/20/98

Once again, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage found themselves competing in a high-profile match on the April 20, 1998 edition of Nitro. This was a No Disqualification match with Macho Man's coveted WCW Championship on the line.

Hogan expertly wore down Savage's leg throughout the match and he choked him with a belt. This was a quality match between the pair and Savage did an excellent job of selling his injuries. There was outside interference from Kevin Nash and Bret Hart with the Hitman laying out Nash, and Hart put Hogan on top of Savage to capture the WCW Title.

2 Hulk Hogan Vs. Randy Savage - WrestleMania V

The Mega Powers imploded, and fans finally witnessed the big money match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage at WrestleMania V. Hogan had not been WWE Champion for 14 months, and he was hellbent on taking the championship away from Macho Man, who had held the title for 364 days.

They hit a home run in an outstanding WWE Championship match. Macho Man was on the top of his game here, and he really thrived on being the pantomine villain. Savage brought out the best in Hogan but the Hulkster captured the WWE Championship for the second time in a war of attrition.

1 Hulk Hogan Vs. Ric Flair - Bash At The Beach 1994

Arguably the best match in Hulk Hogan's entire career came against Ric Flair at Bash at the Beach 1994. WWE fans would have been bitterly disappointed not to see these two lock horns in WWE but they consistenly met in WCW. Moreover, this was Hogan's first official match in WCW, and he did a great job.

Flair's manager Sherri kept on getting involved in proceedings although Hogan removed her from the equation. Naitch tried to keep Hogan down with the Figure Four leglock but Hogan had a refusal to give up. The Hulkster hit Flair with a big boot and sealed the deal with his patented Leg Drop for his first WCW Championship.
