Professional Background

Dr. MacKenzie is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. MacKenzie received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed medical school, Internal Medicine residency, and a Chief Residency year at the University of Chicago. Dr. MacKenzie pursued additional training in both Pulmonary Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Chicago as well.

Dr. MacKenzie is interested in complex pulmonary infections, including fungal pneumonias and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. She has a particular interest in immunocompromised patients including those with autoimmune conditions, malignant hematological conditions and recipients of stem cell and solid organ transplants. She is also interested in antimicrobial stewardship in the ICU and medical education.
