Edge, now Adam Copeland since WWE owns his ring name, has arrived in AEW. Showing up at the end of WrestleDream to oppose Christian Cage rather than help him, while his arrival in AEW was expected, it still made for a big moment at the end of the show. Copeland's WWE contract officially expired on Saturday which freed the Hall of Famer up to compete for a rival wrestling company as soon as Sunday. When Darby Allin revealed his match would be WrestleDream's main event, that all but confirmed Copeland would turn up at some point.
Why Adam Copeland Is All Elite
Even though Copeland has been pretty transparent after wrestling his final match with WWE - he posted a video about the WWE contract extension in his inbox - he never confirmed he'd be going to AEW. However, now the debut has happened, the 11-time World Champion has published a lengthy statement on social media covering just about everything fans would want to know about his decision.

"I’m excited. Whole new roster. Some familiar faces that I wanted to work with again and a whole set of first-ever matches," Copeland wrote, giving that as the leading reason why he left WWE and signed with AEW. He also took the opportunity to thank WWE for his 25 years there explaining that he and his former employer have outgrown each other. "I wanted to do more. They didn’t have much more for me to do. Simple as that. And that’s ok. I’ll still be watching and still be supporting all of my friends there."
Just Enjoy Wrestling
Copeland took that opportunity to speak on the needless war between fans of WWE and AEW, clarifying that if you have been a fan of his work in WWE, you can continue to be a fan of it in AEW. In fact, you'll be able to appreciate it even more in AEW. In the post-show press conference, not only did Tony Khan confirm Copeland has signed a full-time deal and will be appearing every week, but The Rated R Superstar will wrestle his first AEW match this coming Wednesday against Luchasaurus.
Khan also revealed Copeland's relationship with Alterbridge, the band that sings his entrance music, meant they were able to strike up a deal for the song to be used in AEW. WWE also doesn't appear to have the term Rated R Superstar trademarked which is why Taz was able to use it to describe Copeland on-air at WrestleDream.
