Dr. Britt Baker's momentum as AEW Women's champion has stalled recently. The champ has not really had anything of note to do on AEW television for quite some time now, and it has seen the momentum she had managed to build during her first two years with the company starting to dwindle.

Britt was once one of the most entertaining aspects of AEW and was regularly called one of the best homegrown talents they had to offer, but over the last month or so, she has taken a back seat and has not been as involved as she once was. With numerous other members of AEW's women's division starting to feature more significantly as 2022 rolls on, she is no longer being called upon to carry the roster and as a result, is not being featured anywhere near as much as she probably should be.

As champion, Britt should always hold a prominent role on any AEW card, but as the weeks roll on, and she continues to spin her wheels, she may struggle to regain any of the hype and momentum she has managed to build over a stellar two years.

Brit Has Had No Meaningful Feuds

With only four pay-per-views a year, a common criticism aimed at AEW is the way in which they are forced to spin their wheels between these major events in order to save their big matchups. Too often have we seen the company's biggest stars engage in disappointing feuds in the months between pay per views in an effort to save the big rivalries for the marquee shows.

That seems to be the case with women's champion Baker at the moment as, following her feud with Tay Conti culminating at Full Gear back in November, she has been given very little to do. Aside from a brief rivalry with Riho which lead to a title match at Battle of the Belts last month, Britt has not really been given any major storyline to take part in and as such has largely been left to a supporting role for numerous other stories.

Whether it be joining real-life boyfriend Adam Cole in his feud with Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander, or getting involved in Thunder Rosa's rivalry with Mercedes Martinez, Britt has rarely had the chance to showcase her position as the queen of the women's division and her lack of in-ring time and a prominent storyline has seen her momentum stall significantly.

All Eyes Are On Jade Cargill Now

Following her victory over Ruby Soho on January 5, Jade Cargill became the very first AEW TBS champion and as a result, she has been featured heavily on television since.

Jade's status as champion, and her dominant 27-0 AEW record, have seen her status within the company skyrocket and the company is wisely showcasing her regularly as she continues to run rampant over the division. While this is working wonders for the 29-year-old, AEW's reluctance to ever feature more than one women's match on either Dynamite or Rampage has seen Britt's TV time diminish noticeably over the last month or so.

While the company is focusing heavily on Jade right now as they establish her dominance over the women's division, it has seen Britt's own push suffer, and she is no longer being treated as the biggest star on the women's roster.

Reigniting Her Feud With Thunder Rosa Could Kick-Start Momentum Again

As previously mentioned, one of Britt's only recent appearances with any real importance was when she revealed that she was the one who brought Mercedes Martinez into AEW to attack Thunder Rosa. While she is not the focal point of the feud, with Thunder Rosa and Mercedes set to do battle once again, once the former NWA Women's champion is finished with Martinez, it seems she may be turning her sights back onto Britt and this could work wonders for the champion.

Thunder Rosa Vs Britt Baker

Having already engaged in a historic feud in the past, including a fantastic unsanctioned match, having Britt and Thunder Rosa face off for the women's championship is absolutely the right move. The two have great chemistry together and the 30-year-old's momentum would once again start picking up as she got to get her teeth (pun absolutely intended) into a really personal rivalry, one of which she has been seriously missing over the last few months.

Britt Baker is undoubtedly the biggest star to come out of AEW's women's division since the company's inception, and while it is important they continue to build new stars as they progress, it's equally vital they do not leave this one behind.
