Baal, the Lord of Destruction, is the final Boss in Diablo 2: Resurrected. Players fight waves of enemies to get to him. He offers his own challenges.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Baal

Baal is the final Boss players will face in Diablo 2: Resurrected. He is the Lord of Destruction, and it is for him that the expansion to the original Diablo 2 was named. He can be a challenging boss, especially on high difficulties.

There are several parts to the fight with Baal, and players will quickly need to adapt to the variety of moves he brings if they want to survive. Before players can get to Baal, they first need to get through the waves of enemies he summons. His army features monsters from each of the five acts in the game, and some can be difficult to deal with.

First of the minions that Baal summons are Warped Ones and a Warped Shaman named Colenzo the Annihilator. He resurrects his minions just like the Fallen Shaman in Act I. Players should kill him first, and his minions will quickly follow. Next are undead led by Achmel the Cursed. Again, resurrecting is a mechanic in this part of the fight, so players should kill Unravelers first. Achmel also has a poison aura. The third set of minions are Council Members, led by Bartuc the Bloody. He is Lightning Enchanted and can be deadly to unprepared players.

Fighting Baal and His Minions in Diablo 2: Resurrected

Diablo 2 Resurrected Act 5

Ventar the Unholy is the next minion summoned in the final fight with Baal in Diablo 2: Resurrected. Ventar is a Venom Lord who leads minions with the Extra Fast trait. Players can quickly find themselves surrounded if they’re not careful. However, for some character builds, like the Zealot build for Paladins, this isn’t as much of a problem.

Finally, Lister the Tormentor spawns. This part of the fight is by far the most dangerous. His minions deal a lot of damage and have knockback. Lister has Spectral Hit, which can cause problems for players who have been neglecting their resistances.

Players will want to keep resistance high during the fight with Baal. This is especially important on Nightmare and Hell difficulties, as players begin with negative resistances. This fight throws all sorts of elements at players, and they will need to be prepared. If players get overwhelmed, they can try retreating and healing before attacking again.

Once players have beaten all five waves of enemies, they can continue to the next room to fight Baal himself. Baal has several different attacks as well as a large amount of health. He can knock players away with Hoarfrost, teleport, and burn mana. He also has a nova attack. He can summon tentacles from the ground or curse the player to use health instead of mana for spells. His most interesting attack, however, is that he can create a clone of himself. The clone deals damage and has the same amount of health as actual Baal. It does take increased damage, so it will go down quicker, but players can waste time attacking an illusion rather than the boss himself.

There is a way to tell which is the real Baal. If players mouse over the boss, at the top of the screen, they can see his name and his type, Demon. If the D in Demon lines up with the B in Baal, this version is the clone. The real Baal has the word Demon slightly off-center from the word Baal. With this knowledge, players can focus on attacking the real Baal until they have defeated him.
