Dave Bautista delivered spinebusters to countless WWE superstars throughout his illustrious career.

If the wrestler-turned-actor ever gets his wish, perhaps he'll have the chance to deliver one to Batman as well.

During an interview with Justice Con (h/t Rebecca Vanacker of Screen Rant), Bautista was asked which DC Universe character he'd wish to play. The former WWE Champion proceeded to tell a hilarious story about how he tried to land a movie role as Bane, the popular Batman villain.

"Oh, it would be Bane all day long," Bautista said. "I've made no secret about this. I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, 'I want to play Bane.' I'm not kidding. They were a little like 'Woah, we're not even casting Bane.' I was like 'I don't care, I'm playing him.'"

Bautista later stated on Twitter that it wasn't a joke, adding that Warner Bros. got a laugh out of it.

Bautista has plenty of experience in superhero films, having portrayed Dax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But at this time, there are no known plans about Warner Bros. looking to cast Bane in a future film.

Matt Reeves' The Batman, slated for a March 4, 2022 release, will include three other popular Batman villains: Riddler (Paul Dano), Catwoman (Zoƫ Kravitz) and Penguin (Colin Farrell).

Bane has been portrayed in two live action films, first by the late Jeep Swenson in Batman & Robin (1997) and by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), the final film in Christopher Nolan's beloved Batman trilogy.

The character also appeared in three of the four Batman: Arkham video games, Arkham Asylum, Arkham Origins and Arkham City.

Bautista may not suit up as Bane in The Batman, but at least Warner Bros. knows that he's interested if they plan to cast the character in a future film.

Bautista Would Be Awesome As Bane

Bautista would certainly make an awesome version of Bane. He has the size, strength and fighting background from WWE to portray the rule. We've seen Bautista in the Avengers films, and his fighting sequence with Daniel Craig's James Bond in Spectre (2015) was nothing short of cinematic brilliance. So who's to doubt his ability to portray an intriguing and exciting Bane in a future Batman movie? Here's hoping it happens.
