In a recent interview with the Michael Kay Show, Brock Lesnar shared that he actually considered himself retired in 2020 when his last WWE contract expired. After WWE had gone to wrestling in front of no fans with the pandemic, Lesnar figured it was a sign it was time to get out. One thing brought him back.

Noting it was his goal to retire by the age of 40, Lesnar revealed, "I actually retired when COVID hit and my contract was up in 2020. Full circle Brock Lesnar story, I had my first wrestling match in Minnesota was in a garage with no people. 20 years later, had a WWE Title match at WrestleMania in a warehouse in front of no people. 20 years, full circle. I was like 'I'm out.'" When asked what brought him back, he joked, "Cha-ching."

He didn't reveal how much money he was being paid to make a return but he did explain that his planned retirement was why he was sporting a new look. His ponytail and beard was not planned for when he came back to WWE. It was one of those things where he was just going to let his hair grow in retirement. He noted, "My whole life I've been wearing a flat top, crew cut. In UFC I grew my beard out once. I said I'm gonna let it all go (once I left WWE).. He only cut his hair because it got really hot in the summer and his kids wanted to do it.

Where Did The Mohwak Come From?

While cutting his hair, the kids said, 'We're going to give you a mohawk.' Then they go, I bet you won't wear a ponytail.' I wasn't gonna lose a bet to my kids. So, I wore this look. It wasn't a mastermind (plan), it was a joke. Here I am. Brock Lesnar is a big ass joke."

Interestingly, the look-- along with his new personality being showcased -- has actually completely reshaped the way fans see Lesnar. At the rate he's going, he could easily get a few more years out of his career with WWE, which isn't bad considering he was going to quit it all just over a year ago.
