Brock Lesnar Defeats Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns headlined WrestleMania for a fourth consecutive year, but he finally met his match against the Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar - who easily squashed him to retain the title.
With UFC president Dana White announcing that Lesnar was set to return to the octagon, immediate speculation ramped up than Reigns would defeat The Beast Incarnate and win the main event at 'Mania once again.
However, Lesnar kept hitting The Big Dog with FV finishing maneuvers, pinning a bloodied and battered Reigns to hold onto the title. Lesnar's reign surpassed a full calendar year on Monday, and the part-timer is obviously not leaving WWE any time in the immediate future.
It was previously reported that Lesnar's contract expired after WrestleMania 34, though Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has mentioned that clauses in the deal can keep Lesnar aboard throughout the summer.
And with WWE heavily pushing Reigns to be the next main star over the last three years, it was widely expected by many that he'd once again reign supremacy on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
But this show did have plenty of surprises, and many were definitely stunned to see Lesnar drop Reigns so easily. The buildup always pointed at Reigns conquering the former UFC Champion, but that wasn't the case in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday.
Because the creative team loves Roman Reigns, we can probably expect him to rekindle his rivalry with Lesnar in the coming weeks. There aren't any more major stars on the Raw roster he can feud with, and Lesnar's championship reign will have to end eventually - especially if he actually does leave the WWE in the summer.
Having Lesnar squash Reigns in the main event is definitely one of the more questionable booking decisions in recent memory, but perhaps we'll learn some answers as to why this match closed out the show.
